In the street the other week, then I got a hunk of glass in my foot, so I've decided to not go barefoot anymore this summer.
used to always wear shoes - now I've been going barefoot more often - liking the feel of grass, dirt, pavement under my feet
Oooh ouch! That sounds bad. Don't let it put you off though. Try just going bf indoors and in the garden to toughen your feet up a bit. I once got a small bit of glass in my foot, but it was there for days before I realized.
So yesterday it was about 20 degrees celsius here. I took some Havaianas with me because I was going to Birmingham to see Frank Sinatra Jr. perform at Symphony Hall in Birmingham. I left my house at around 15:30 and the ground was nice and warm I walked all the way to town barefoot and went to the train station and caught the train to Birmingham. I stopped off in Wolverhampton and had a wonder around window shopping and then caught another train to Birmingham. I then spent a few hours wondering barefoot through the city shopping and the bullring, I only put my flip-flops on to go into forever 21 because there was sale on. Got some paisley style leggings for £3.50. After I left forever 21 I took them back off and went and brought some Ice Cream and then walked to Symphony Hall where I put my flip flops back on once I got to the doors. Sinatra was amazing, voice just like his dad. Had a few drinks too which given how I'd only eaten Ice Cream made me a little tipsy. Then I took my flip flops off on my way out and spent just over an hour wandering through the streets again. Then I caught my train home and walked back to my house barefoot. It was such a fun day and my soles got so filthy.
I went on a walk through a forest behind a park yesterday with my boyfriend. The forest was much larger than I thought and filled with trails. The ground was hard packed dirt on the trails with some really muddy spots. We had to turn back eventually because we found a huge patch of poisonous parsnip plants. Since I wasn't wearing shoes or pants I didn't want to take any chances walking through there. The sap of poisonous parsnips can burn your skin severely. It was still a great walk. My feet were so muddy and black at the end!
Soon as I finished work off came the boots and made the 13 mile bus journey home. Stopped off for a couple of well deserved pints.had a bit of a wander around. Doesn't this hot weather get your soles black in no time? Sweating feet will attract dirt in no time. My feet are filthy and nobody cares in fact a few people have complimented me on having the nerve to walk about barefoot in public.
The pavements in Newark were so hot yesterday I had to walk in the shade whenever I could. Saw a couple of other people barefoot down near the river, and a girl on the Market Place carrying her sandals
I spent canada day barefoot yesterday! I had a party with some friends and one of them brought some fireworks. We walkyd to a big empty field to set them off once it was dark. I hula hooped while there were fireworks, it was awesome! The grass was really wet from rain so my feet looked clean afterwards.
It's great walking around in the morning after a heavy nights rain, feels so good. like it when you walk onto dry parts such as under shop canopies and leave wet bare feet marks for a few yards. Soles do get really dirty walking in the wet. Nice. Off work for a few days and intend my feet to stay bare the whole time
So I traveled across the country yesterday. I took most of my plane rides barefoot and was walking around the terminals barefoot, but once I got to penticton it was too hot! My bare feet burned on the pavement and I had to hop back and forth while trying to get my sandals from one of my bags. I can get away being barefoot mornings and evenings here it seems but when it is 38°C and the sun is beating down I have to wear sandals... boo
After an early morning stroll, took the car to fill up with fuel. Woman in the queue at the petrol station stared intently at me, maybe she'd never seen bare feet before. Then to the Bottle Bank, careful of any broken glass, and onto a Car Boot sale which was in a nice grassy field. Saw another barefoot girl there. We're going to the seaside tomorrow which is about 80 miles away, it'll be kinda cool to be that far away from my shoes.
I took off my sandals Saturday morning after having them on for less than 5 minutes after I got up for the day. I never put them on after that & spent all day at my brothers place for the holiday. We mostly just hung around on the deck & in the yard, but I walked on the gravel driveway and in the woods barefoot. I don't know how or exactly when, but at some point, I split open the end of one toe enough to make it bleed. it's a little sore now, but not too bad. When it came time to head home ( about a 2 hour drive) I just put my sandals in the back of the car. On the way home we stopped for something to eat & I decided to try going in the restaurant barefoot. My wife was having a fit, but I just told her don't worry about it. I don't know if anyone in there even noticed that I was barefoot, because I didn't see anyone look at them & no one said anything. After we ate, we went to a Field & Stream store to just look around & maybe buy some life preservers for kayaking. I saw several workers in the store look at my bare feet, but not one of them said anything. When we got home I took my clothes off, of course staying barefoot & haven't had anything on since. I spent Sunday working in my shop cutting, drilling & welding steel for a project on one of my tractors. I wondered if I was going to have to break down & put something on to weld, but gave it a try anyway & found out that I could do it without getting burned. A few sparks did sting a little though. Then I mowed the back yard right up until dark. It's now Monday morning & I have to take my wife to get a C/T of her foot as follow up to surgery, so I'll have to get dressed. I am going to try to stay bare foot though, even if I just sit in the car while she goes for the C/T. I don't think I'd ever wear anything again if it were socially acceptable or I didn't need protection from the elements.
I have actually managed to stay barefoot a lot more than I thought I would in this heat! Sticking to shaded areas as much as possible when walking on hot pavement seems to work. My feet also seem to be getting tougher still. When I do walk on the hot pavement it hurts less. We went to town yesterday and I didn't wear any shoes. I work and live with some pretty awesome people who didn't even bat an eye when I explained I don't like shoes. The only thing is, my boss here worries something will bite my foot. There are rattlesnakes and black widows and stuff around here, so she keeps asking me to wear sandals. I figure that if a snake or spider tries to bite me sandals aren't any more safe.
