I haven't worn shoes or sandals in weeks except for a couple times to go to lunch and one store. No one seems to notice or care anymore. I got an awesome new foot tat too!

I just had a happy barefoot weekend :) Friday night going to a ** restaurant without problems (but I did assume, as I was there on bare paws before). Saturday beach day (ok, not so special to go barefoot there). Sunday a city trip to Bruges including a boat sightseeing round tour, climbing the belfry, strolling around in the old town, staying in a sidewalk cafè/bar, taking a rest at the Béguinage, visiting the famous Half Moon brewery with lunch there. Got a lot of looks and heard some comments about my bare paws in maybe a dozen languages ;-), but all in all never got problems. I was asked to put my shoes on at the brewery, but when I said I’ve none with me, it was ok though. I really can recommend Bruge for a barefoot visit. Little hint: if you come by car, put it in the parking deck at the main station. It’s cheap and includes free use of public transport bus lines to the old town. And don’t miss to look the movie “In Bruges” before ! ;-)

Went for lunch at my boyfriends work today barefoot. I've also been going into my local grocery store regularly and no one who works there even bats an eye anymore despite the "no shoes no shirt no service" sign out front.

Glorious day going barefoot today. Would love to do it 24/7 but with winter and all.

Mostly on blacktop and sidewalk on the way to the trash bin and the mailbox yesterday and today. During the middle of afternoon peak heat hours mainly because I sleep in late when I don't have to work that day. Around 2:25pm to 2:30pm on both days.

Short distance to the mailbox is 3 minutes round trip but goes past the rental office and they give me odd looks when they see me barefoot. Longer distance is 11 minutes round trip, bypasses the rental office except for going past swimming pool behind the rental office (and they can't see unless maintenance rides by in their golf carts), but is longer stretches of blacktop and the sidewalks are slightly abrasive to already burning soles. Today I did use sidewalk and shade as needed for today's shorter walk before the soles got too hot, after yesterday's way too hot walk. Today did not burn the soles any more than the day before.

Well, my local Auto Zone is now on my list of places I won't do business with!
I was working on the brakes on my truck & needed a short steel brake line. I didn't bother to put shoes on before I went. I walked into the store & one worker was helping someone & the other one was on the phone, so I checked the isles to see if I could find brake lines myself. They weren't in the isles, so I figured they had them in back. I went up to the counter & waited for the worker on the phone to finish his call. When he hung up & looked up at me I told him I needed a brake line. He started right off telling me that I needed to get something on my feet first. I told him that i didn't have any footwear with me. Then he told me that "this is a public building & I had to have footwear on. When I said that there's no law against being barefoot in a public building he said, "what if something fell off a shelf & landed on your foot?" Then I just asked, do you have the brake line or not? He said yes, but would not let up about being barefoot! Next, he said that next time I come in, If I'm barefoot he'll tell me to leave. At that point I got pissed & replied, "Why don't I just leave now! To Hell with you!" and I walked out.

I know I probably could have handled it better, but he was relentless about it & he just kept it up too long!
Anyway, there are three other auto parts stores within five minutes of that Auto Zone. I went to one of them, got my brake line while still barefoot & went home. I'll drive the extra five minutes to take my business elsewhere from now on!

You may have overreacted a little bit hairless one, but it sounds like the guy was being an ass.

I was told the other day in the grocery store I always go to that I needed shoes. The manager was really nice and I just told him I hadn't seen the sign. He let me finish my shopping before I left. I was there during the day that time and the staff was different, since I normally go at night. I will only go at night from now on since the night staff don't give a crap.

On Sunday I went to Stoke-on-Trent and because it was lovely and warm I went for nice long walk around barefoot. I took my sandals off in Hanley Park and walked through the park and then down the Canal a bit, It was fun as there were many different surfaces from grass, mud gravel, cobbles and pavement, Plus I crushed some little shards of glass, and a really creamy cake that someone must have dropped that made my foot sticky.

Then mostly because I needed to the loo I headed to Hanley town centre and went to McDonald’s, I put my sandals back on outside McDonald’s after having some food I left and as soon as I was out of there I sat down on the nearest bench and took my sandals off again.

Then I had a barefoot wonder through the town centre sadly it was about 18:00ish so pretty much everywhere was closed, then I wandered out of town walking down the roads and around towards Hanley Park again, then because I entered through a different part than earlier I spotted a small patch of mud that I just had to walk through, and after a little walk I found even more mud that was very squishy.

Then I dipped my feet into the canal to remove the bigger pieces of mud from my toes and walked through the student area heading towards Hartshill because I wanted to pop to Tesco Express on the way there I spotted a big pile of broken glass that I just had to walk through, I love crushing it under my bare soles and the sound of it all crunching.

I took some pictures & videos, Pictures are in a gallery on my Postimg account and video uploaded with Vid.me, links to both are below. :p

After spending about 5 minutes of walking over and jumping on it I carried on towards Tesco Express and then walked back toward the Station and got the train home.

    Such a fun day out.

Love it, BG! Sure does sound like a fun day out as the various pics prove. Thanks for posting the evidence! Do take care with that glass,.... though your feet do seem tough enough to take it :)

Thankfully there is an upper 90's heat wave a few days next week in my area.

Barefoot in weather below the 90 degrees F range does nothing for making the soles leathery stiffer like a shoe sole and more heat tolerant for walking several more minutes at a time before needing shade. Even better if asphalt shade is sufficiently hot enough to have to go to sidewalk when standing on it, because then the unshaded asphalt is extra hot and even more effective for leatherizing the soles faster. I just deal with overburning, since what doesn't reattach starts to heal shortly after I trim it away, even though it looks... different when viewing the entire sole because of the border surrounding the area trimmed away. I've never third degree burned when actually overburning walking in inland areas, and the resultant healing area hasn't lasted for more than two months so far from my experience with previously overburning.

Continued barefooting, starting with slightly less heat and building up to maximum heat once again, also makes that healing spot just as heat tolerant as the rest of the sole when it finally does get to the same thickness as the rest of the sole. It's even better when overburning stops occurring and at most it's only burning, because then the soles are ready for even more heat until it's realistic to know they won't stop overburning and reached an absolute heat limit.

Started around 1:20pm just starting to get to peak heat hours...

Barefoot for 7 minutes on blacktop as preheating before taking the light rail. Flip flops worn before wearing out the soles too soon when walking to the light rail. Barefoot around town on hot sidewalks and burning hot asphalt after getting off the light rail. Flip flops worn to board the bus to the mall.

Peak heat hours: 2:15pm to 3:20pm...

Barefoot on very burning hot sidewalks and near blistering hot asphalt outside the shopping mall, flip flops worn to enter the mall. Barefoot on the same sidewalks that became very burning hotter, and on the asphalt becoming blistering hot just an hour later from 2:15pm. Flip flops worn to take a dirt sidewalk to the bus (and those gave me the start of blisters, not actually from the heat). Flip flops worn to board another bus downtown. Barefoot along a harborside park and marina. Flip flops for a short time after tending to the blisters getting larger. Barefoot the rest of the way of the harborside park and marina, and to the bus stop. Flip flops to board the bus. Short walk to the light rail barefoot. Flip flops to board the light rail. Barefoot the rest of the way home after tending to a blister one more time, after getting off the light rail. Flip flops to enter the house so as not to be hassled by dirty soles and a couple of blisters.

The soles went through a lot before I arrived home close to 9:00pm. Plenty of exposure to the heat, but I am disappointed about the friction blisters.

Taking a day off from going barefoot tomorrow, except for barefoot on the carpets and the wood floors. I've had to tend to the blister by draining it three separate times, all because flip flops friction, not overburning from hot surfaces, caused it.

It's getting cooler, and the ground is getting damp, so going barefoot is getting extra fun!

Unfortunately for me it's getting too cool. No more going barefoot for me until next summer. I'll miss it.

Well, I keep expanding my list of places that I go barefoot.

Yesterday, I went on a business trip to pick up some merchandise at a sporting goods wholesale warehouse that I deal with. I took a pair of sandals along with me in the car, but never put them on. I was a little apprehensive about going into the warehouse barefoot, but I only go into a small shipping office to make my pickups, unless it's a very large order. Then, I have to actually back into a shipping bay. I made my pickup without any comments about my bare feet, but I really don't know if anyone but aonther customer even noticed.

Next, I went to a Sam's Club to buy a new battery for my car. I parked in the lot & walked right into the store. Another customer said to me, "Where's your shoes?" I just replied, "I don't have any" and kept on walking. While in the battery & tire department, a female worker told me that I couldn't be in there without footwear. I simply told her that it is not illegal. Then she told me that it's a warehouse & the employees couldn't even wear open toe'd shoes. I pretty much ignored her comment & went on asking about the battery I was looking for. She gave up about my bare feet & went to ask another employee if they had my battery.

Last night, a friend of mine called me up & wanted to meet at a local bar for a beer. Again, I took along my sandals in the car but never put them on. When I got out of the car & started walking across the street, my friend said something about being barefoot & I looked down & said, "I guess I am!" He got over it real quick. Lol

Finally, today I had a doctor appointment. I took my sandals along in the car again (I'm going to have to stop relying on having a safety net along) but didn't wear them into the office. I went in, checked in & sat in the waiting room filling out paperwork with other patients around. When a nurse called me for my turn to be seen, I know she looked down & noticed my bare feet, but nothing was said. Even the doctor went thru his thing with no mention of my lack of footwear.

It's starting to feel easier to go barefoot without too much worry! [IMG]
