    Peace WE,

i second that one ;) but WE it is not your fault you dont tollerate nonsense AKA B.S. its a natual mechanism to recognize such pointless actions and thoughts :).my thoughts are. that if they are here for a positive reason, want to grow in other words not to stir up trouble or pester people i dont mind. even though i am only a high schooler i know where alot of these teens get there thoughts and emotions from i know where alot of them stand mentaly and emotionaly. and those who come on here for help and advice are moving in the right direction and is that not what we come here for is to help and be helped? i agree 100% with what WE said. people like to critize me for my low tollerance tward B.S. and i have a good reason. people that do cause trouble need help i agree and they are most deperately in need of wisdom but they put themselves in a ball stage that only they can chose to break. but groovy topic Darrel Kitchen. oh and it is very nice to hear from another friend. glad to see you and to know your not giving in to the 'games' alot of the teens nowaways do. good going :)

Hi darrell and all.I just came back to the forums and am so comp. illiterate--I don/t even know what faq or the rest of the acronyms/jargon mean.I just come in and smart-ass around some, but I don't have much of a problem with any of the places I visit.I just enjoy this place and reading what you-all post just ignore what I'm not interested in.Sorry--not much help here.--------scratcho-

I'm VERY NEW HERE, & joined because I thought this was basically an OLD HIPPIE web site. Then I started reading the posts, many from the self-proclaimed young hippies, ages 13 on up. Many of which that truly don't GET IT, & into it for questionable different reasons.
That's why I was so happy when Matt helped find this OLD HIPPIE forum.
I noticed in the Young Hippies forum there were no posts from OLD HIPPIES,
so whats wrong with having a forum ONLY for OLD HIPPIES?

Okay I noticed that some members in their early 40's resent the rule 45 & up,
but were truly effected by the movement, & even raised by hippie parents.
So perhaps allowing anyone 40 & older here?
And keep the same OLD HIPPIE threads that allow young hippies to ask questions.
    Just my two cents.

    Scratcho,
FAQs are frequently asked questions. Don't feel bad I've been coming here for years and I'm still learning!

    Rjchinook,
Anyone is welcome in this forum, we're just trying to define what old hippies are and set some rules (hippies with rules?) LOL! (laughs out loud Scratcho).

I'll get to the FAQ section soon, but I'm really busy at the moment!

Again I just joined this forum and have been busy reading this thread for hours!
I must say that all the OLD HIPPIES here are the most open minded, caring, loving, delightful, intelligent, refreshing, endearing, far-out, out-a-site & of course HIP group of individuals that I've come across on the Internet in a VERY LONG TIME! (with that said I better get an invitation to the NEW OLD HIPPIE forum)
    LOL, but really its true!
And for the first time...I'm actually HAPPY about turning 51 next month!
    Thanks!
    Go with Peace,
    Rockyj

off topic a little but accually it is the POINT

That post above me right there is another reason us oldies get vent and want the teens out. Most of them don't have a clue and just think being doped fucked is cool. We've all been raped, we've all gone through our own hell, we've all been beat up. Get over the excuses and be real.
We are not here for the ones to poke sticks at us through the fence. We done did it in the sixties. Most of us don't take no chit no more. We try to help the ones the really want to, to crossover the fence and learn to give a little LOVE LOVE LOVE, but some of these teens need a different approach. I don't know whats to become of our youth. So violent and mouthy. I wonder where their parents are and if they know what they are unleashing on the world. Our society has plummited downhill, if this is our future kill me now, I don't want to see my grandkids being this way. Dear GOD, BUDDAH Kreshna or who ever. What seeds have we planted to grow such offspring. Forgive me on this but I can't help but to say someting. I have a12 yr old granddaughter and I Pray she doesn't choose this route as did the dopesickkid and the many others like him. We didn't fight the MAN so our kids could go to hell in a dope basket And what would a 13 yr old know about.... never mind.. It's his life. I casn't change things for him. He will have to grow into his own. It's just such a waste, so sad.

Believe me I've tried, and found that complaining will do you no good. Basically, because, Skip [our host] has given every member who makes a $10.00 donation the ability to start there own forum and establish there own rules. Why don't one of you who are as fed up as I am with the constant stream of immature B.S. start a Mature Forum? And we can all meet in peace and discuss matters that are important to adults and share our memories and stories there? And then we can leave this forum to the 13 year old's who claim to be drug addicts. I promise to visit often and help as much as possible,if you do. I'm sorry, but, I don't have the time to manage my own forum;otherwise I would start one.

I have a couple of forums, but I don't want to be limited into what I read or which forum/thread I find an interesting topic in. I like to see what some of the younger ones have to say. I have friends of all ages.
I think it's a matter of respect as was mentioned earlier. It's a freedom of speech site and it was ONE of our priorties in the sixties. It's a tough one to evaluate. If we lock the door on the younguns we are locking out our future and sending out a kind of snobish attitude, like if your not over 55555 you can't be in our club, like red lining. Maybe an iggie button that the Mods can use to block out the ones that come to disrupt the room. And it's not just the younguns that start trouble either.
Perhaps it should come from within, the iggie button I mean. Maybe we should just ignore the challenging posts. Bring in the roses or something good to eat, 'Spirit Food' and kill the negitivity with kindness. That one would be a bitter pill to swallow for me, as I tend to go into a mother thing and want to spank the daylites from them that show no respect. I never got to act like that nor did my children.
They're not my 'kids, they're not my responsibility!! or are they? Does it not take a village to raise a child even if that child is of age. Are we not all children learning everyday.
To address this conflict we would have to change society. Can we? It lays in the hands of our youth. Woe us!!!!

I've just about had my fill of this fucking place. To allow minors to come here and profess to use drugs is not only socially irresponsible it is also morally irresponsible. This Forum is pathetic. And that also goes for its dues paying members. Because, thru your cash contributions your allowing this type of behavior to continue. Hip Forums indeed.

A lot of us have been fighting for what we believe in for a long time. And too there are some who have been at it only a short time, but are fighting just as hard. For me, growing up in the deep south, most of my struggle has been against racism. And I'll tell ya'll what. If Bull Connor and his dogs or the state troopers and their billy clubs or Nixon or Kent State couldn't couldn't run me off from what I believe in, I'll be DAMN if some rude little kid will. And I believe in these forums.
As to what Shamless and other are saying about responsibility and / or helping, there are two things that come to (my) mind. (1.) The saying about change what you can, accept what you can't, and the wisdom to know the difference. (2.) The saying about helping those who help themselves.

Also remember, the "Personal Forums" are still public. What ever happened to finding out about the "Private Forums"?

This is not about Nixon,Racism,Kent State,State Troopers or anything even remotely connected to that era. And its not just about "some rude little kid". Today's post by "Dope Sick Kid" was but one of many examples of post's that over the course of many, many months are intended to harass and upset us,are you not aware of this poor old dad? Because your above post makes it seem like this is all new to you. [clue] This is about a website that has no limits. That has no values,no moral compass and very little supervision. Its about a website that not only tolerates illegal behavior among minors but helps to promotes it. [/clue] You can talk your sanctimonious Bullshit about fighting the man all you wish poor old dad. But I can assure you, that has nothing to do with the subject matter at hand and the profound problems within Hip Forums. In reality, how can adults in positions of authority here allow a 13 year old, basically a child,to register in this forum, and post over and over under the alias Dope Sick Kid? You people are pathetic. And with that,I bid you all a good weekend.

I would never advocate or promote anyone especially kids abusing drugs.
I have been a single mom & have three beautiful daughters, ages 15, 23, & 26, my 15 year old is into creating art on the computer, my 23 year graduated from Western Oregon University last year and working her way through nursing school.
She's young I know she goes out with her friends & drinks (she works in a bar) but she's amazely has it under control. Not at all like me at her age!
And my oldest, though she was raised my another family, she's a more of a late bloomer, she's back in college & she likes her weed but that's it.
She has experiemented with a few other drugs but didn't care for them & doesn't drink at all!
I have been very open about my past with all of them, and they all know the negative impact my past substance abuse had in my life, because it effected them just as well.
I feel very fortunate and VERY PROUD, and thank my Creator each day!
I don't care old hippies or not promoting drugs or romanticizing about them to the youngsters here is completely wrong!
I also know from my own experience (seven years ago I relapsed for over a year) & its VERY different out there now!
Gone with the loving, sharing and happy tripping with brothers & sisters.
As my young nephew told me (when I was out there):
"Auntie, its not like when you were kid...all that peace & love, its kill or be killed!"
Its being ripped off, danger of aids, gangs, etc., you all know what I mean.
Anyway, I hope this forum doesn't advocate substance abuse.

I do honestly regret that you find me to be pathetic. You were moved to inform me that "its 2005 not 1971". Please rest assured that even if you think I'm pathetic, I realize what year it is. I also realize that Bull Connor used dogs and fire hoses on students May 2, 1963. I also realize that State troopers and local law enforcement, some mounted on horseback, attacked the peaceful demonstrators with billy clubs, tear gas, rubber tubes wrapped in barbed wire and bull whips, driving them back into Selma on March 7, 1965. I also realize that Nixon was elected president in 1968 and some of worked against him when he ran in 1960. What I don't understand is, what do any of these dates have to do with 1971?

But all that is beside the point. It's not about the there and then. It's about the here and now. I do realize that a lot of people have been getting upset and leaving these forums. Perhaps if you had read what I posted above, you would have seen that I was saying that I'm not going to be run off. I wasn't talking about "sanctimonious Bullshit about fighting the man". I was talking about not giving up on what you believe in.

I also respectfully disagree with your statement that this is, "a website that has no limits". However, this is a Public Forum. A Public Forum, whether it's here or "Speakers' Cornor" in Hyde Park or whatever, by definition has few limits. I notice the offending posts were deleted, so the "very little supervision" is enforcing some limits.

    Peace,

I love all you old farts.....just had to say that.

And this....I love seeing the different opinions brought to our table here. This is truely what the free speech thing is ALL about.

This winter I hope to have a forum up. Just too busy right now trying to find a way to keep Larry from having to get back in that Dump truck.

I to , care about the youngins here, and hope that my experiences, words, thoughts, vibes touch them in a positive way. Fractual is one of my closest buddies from the forum and it means alot to me.
I do write back and forth to quite a few others. And I have seen growth where there once was confusion, apathy, cynicism, and just plain ignorance in some of the younger ones. And even a few of the older ones. Not a judgement, just always happy to see us all grow.Though sometimes it takes quite awhile.

We are all on our own path, however each of those paths interconnect, its up to us how we approach those intersections.
Larry and I were out having a bon-fire last night and had a conversation about humaness/spiritual approaches to the same situation. How we can look at and evaluate the very same situation, person, reaction etc. in a totally different way, depending on which eyes we use (a spititual look or a humaness look)
Our dog was laying there snoozing and I asked Larry to tell me what he saw with his human eyes...he said he saw a dog laying there, relaxed and probably dreaming about getting bunny rabbits or his next meal.
I asked what he saw with his spiritual eyes and he saw... love. A little creature who would give his life for us and who loved us and we him without question.

I do at times use my human eyes atomatically, when I would be better off using my spirit eyes. am striving to make all my eyes one and the same.

Well gosh 'n' golly, aren't we having fun now?! To let a few words on a page get so many undies all knotted up. Let's take a trip back down memory lane and revisit some wisdom: "Don't mean nothing - nothing at all".

We aren't going to stop any lame ass from posting whatever they want in this forum, just as no other public forum is going to stop some lame ass from posting whatever. It's not going to happen. And if you can't get your arms around that and it really bugs you, then perhaps it is time for newer pastures. All things have a beginning and an end.

As for me, I have no problem reading something like the post that stirred the hornets' nest, shaking my head, and moving on. I don't let the small shit sweat me, and you know the saying about sweating small shit...

Now, everybody take a deep breath and smile. We're still alive.

O thank you thank you thank you
Knew I couldn't answer that without making it a wee bit worse, if not a lot so I hung back hoping another calm rational mind would put it better than my reaction.
Round and round we go .... did we learn any thing - well then round and round we go again, wee what fun - Life is about learning and growing, and we are not alone
