I used to believe this kind of stuff till i travelled.

Visit some of these third world countries, half the population is living off less than these bums on our streets are. Build your own cart out of nothing, seĺl noodles, sodas, train a monkey, whatever

 

I read a study that said in terms of self-reported happiness and contentment, quality of life levels off somewhere around $70,000 a year in the US. People who made significantly more did not claim to be happier.

But his comparison was to other developed nations, not third world countries.

 

Depends on where you ask and whom you ask. Ask in Compton and then ask on Marthas Vineyard. Results may be a trifle different. Statistics can be made to reflect anything the person asking wants the answer to reflect. Statistics are sometimes notoriously biased.

And who in hell REALLY understands all the inter-connected and rigged monetary BS?

 

Even those who would be considered poor have cell phones, take-out food, salon nailjobs and status clothing accessories.

Instead of hunger our poor are suffering from the affects of too much weight, heart disease, diabities, Ect from nutrition programs.

In New York City there is an absolute right to shelter. and education.

We endure the poverty of misplaced spending.

Most of the poor in the US are pitiful "privileged" white people, hated by most of the world. It's amazing how backward and spiteful it has all become.

 

Well most people don't smoke cigarettes either, but if you smoke two packs a day and pay NY/NJ prices that comes to $420 a month.

a nice easy number to remember.

that's a car payment or one third of the way to a housing payment.
