Nope! cast #6 on now, so I have my go anywhere barefoot excuse again, which I am using. Being winter here, it at least proves commitment to the barefoot cause!

Finally got up enough nerve last night to walk our neighborhood barefoot at dark....quite a rush especially when you don't know who may drive by or step outside that I know.

  4. Applause! The first barefoot step is the first step...barefoot! It DOES take courage...take it from me: the silent "c" in nuspieds stands for "coward"! First at night, then in late lafternoon, then (gasp) in broad daylight. No. Wait. Us vampires crumble in broad sunlight...well, late afternoon still counts. GOOD FOR YOU!!!!!

I've only been to the bathroom barefoot so far today, considering my current time zone and my late night last night. But I plan on going out in five minutes for breakfast and spend the whole day barefoot. I recently posted some of my experience here, for those who might have missed it: http://www.hipforums.com/newforums/showthread.php?t=376108&f=403

Today was errand day, so I was barefoot at Walgreen's, Jiffy Lube, Bank of America, and the local car wash. Jiffy Lube is always a great place for barefooting because my soles get really filthy black. :)

I spent the day in Stevenage. Most of it at the cinema (saw three films, including Inglourious Basterds which I recommend to everyone. Absolutely superb. Brilliantly done with some hilarious moments and yet not at all insensitive, trivial or disrespectful. Possibly an even better film than In The Loop which really takes some beating in my book.

I also went into McDonalds, and a Wetherspoons during the day. Got plenty of comments but no resistance, except from one pub where they refused to serve me, which I found quite surprising but I didn't let it get to me. The only real dampener for me today was the Rs conceding another f***ing late equaliser at Home Park this afternoon. But Inglourious Basterds got me back in a good mood.

Out to a cafe for breakfast, then to a bookshop. It was raining, so loved seeing my wet bare foot print on the sections of footpaths which were covered.

Good for you! :hurray: What you did was how I got into barefooting, i.e., by walking around my neighborhood at dark. And you're right--you DO get a rush, especially your first time. Congratulations and keep them bare! :)

Try going into the pub barefoot. That way, you don't have to worry about where to put your shoes and socks once you take them off inside the restroom. Sure, you'll have anxiety about it, and that will have to be overcome. However, once you get in the door, you can have a couple of drinks and be over it!

Another tip is to stuff a carrier bag into your back pocket, that way if you take your shoes and socks off you can put them in there so their out of sight. It'll give you confidence then as you'll look as though you're barefoot on purpose and not apologetic about it. Also handy so you can carry your shoes and socks around more easily when you leave the pub.

Today I had a bunch of work-related and personal errands to run so I left the home office a few minutes early to hit the road. Here's a list of my stops - barefoot (as usual) all the way!!

    • Target
    • FedEx/Kinko's
    • Another Target (forgot something at 1st stop)
    • Walgreen's
    • King Sooper's (grocery)
    • Post Office
    • Coffee Shop
    • Card shop (dad's birthday is nearly here!)
    • Office Max

I went into London today to see a friend who was taking her little boy around the Science and Natural History museums. On top of a nice day walking around both museums and watching him marvel at the wonders there in, followed by a nice sandwich and smoothie sat at an outside table in front of a South Kensington Italian Theme Café (with the emphasis on "Theme"), there was an added amusement for me, in that said son of friend was fascinated that I didn't bring shoes with me.

He asked why I didn't have my shoes. I just said I didn't like them. He then replied by asking what they looked like. I said they were brown and shoe-shaped. I don't think he understood that it was wearing them that was bothering me rather than their appearance. Still he's only 6. Anyway, he decided he was fed up with his flipflops and was barefoot for most of the day too. Then he was fascinated with how black his (and my) soles were after we'd got back onto the Underground. I asked my friend (his mother) if he'd done it much before, to which she replied no. So on the one hand I've got a freely chosen conversion on the part of the little lad, and on the other I hope she's not too horrified at the prospect. But she seemed to be amused enough by it today.

    Decent weather today too!

Has I posted it yesterday evening, the "today" part of the subject line would still fit - oh well, guess I was too lazy to turn on the computer after work... :D

Anyway, I had to go to our local residents' registration office yesterday, as my ID expired and I need a new one (a thing, every German experiences every ten years...). So, before work, I went there - barefoot, of course, got to the reception desk to collect a waiting number and then waited with other visitors for my number to appear on the announcement table/TFT screen. I was tempted to yell "You've got mail!" every time a number was shown, as the announcement sound was the default MS Office mail tone.
I received occasional glances at my bare feet, but no comments.

One of the office employees there even had a bit of hippie styling about her with a purple tie-dye long blouse and bare feet in Birkenstocks - but, as always, no other fully bare feet but mine to spot around town...

    wiggling toes,

Good day today!! I went to the following - all barefoot

    • Doughnut Shop (I treated myself to some "fat pills" !!)
    • Deli
    • Target
    • Luggage Repair Shop (picked up repaired luggage damaged by United - my cost)
    • FedEx Office
    • King Soopers (grocery)
    • Credit Union
    • Convenience Store
    • Liquor Store

I'm up to 280 different public places I've successfully visited barefoot this calendar year. This number doesn't include repeat visits to the same location. I've only had two bad experiences, so my 99+% acceptance/tolerance rate is intact!!

Wal mart, 2 dollar generals and a gas station. I saw a barefoot guy (one of the fes times I've seen a barefoot in public guy) getting out of his car at wal mart. I saw him walk towards the door, then he turned around and went back to his car.

This weekend went to two malls, a supermarket, gas station, rubbish transfer station and a hardware store. And ended the day at a friend's farm.
