It seems that the time of warm pavement beneath bare soles is coming to an end over here... I went barefoot to and from work, with cloudy skies and a little fog, temperatures getting noo higher than 6°C (43F) all day long... and since such weather calls for closed-toed shoes in the office (darn social expectations and dress codes) I had to don my closed-toed Birks for 8 hours... Oh, how my toes rejoiced as soon as they got out of them to feel the cool and fresh autumn air.

Wiggling toes, which are glowing pink due to nice coolfooting conditions,

Yesterday it was the usual barefooting before and after work (including my usual morning ritual of a barefoot & nude smoke and coffee on my balcony), with morning temperatures at 4°C (39F) and after-work temperatures at 11°C (52F) with sunny weather, having me walk barefoot into the sunset, and then to the mall to do some gorcery shopping... I've noticed that people tend to do more double takes on colder days, since they don't expect to see bare feet as soon as summer has passed... Occurrances of "The Look"® now tend to have a more incredulous quality to them. One comment at the supermarket came from an elderly lady, who always comments on my barefeet when seeing me, and said "You're still barefoot! Aren't you feeling cold?" to which I replied "No, since there's no frost as yet..." and then put my MP3 player earplugs into my ears, thus ending that little exchange.
This morning, it's the same as yesterday (with my morning ritual already past... and very refreshing that was, again). Only the temperatures are moving downwards, as we have only 0.7°C (33F) this morning... so, for the first time in a long while, my toes will feel near-frost conditions on my way to work. And I'll do what has to be done... no, not donning shoes, but bundling up warm, to keep my core temperature high enough. :)

    Wiggling bare and happy toes,

    ~*Ganesha*~

Dagnabbit - had to wear shoes to a job interview yesterday and today, and now my calves are aching badly. I'd also forgotten that shoes add extra height to you, so banged my head getting on the bus ! Amazing how quickly you adapt to being barefoot and how hard it is to change back. At least I'm barefoot again now, even if it is getting cold in England now.

Yesterday evening, Oct. 14 2010, in the Southern California area, walked about 2 miles barefoot in a wooded area near Pasadena. Mostly a dirt trail, but went off trail here and there. Off trail included rocky areas and some areas with sharp twigs underfoot.

It was overcast and cool, and the ground was damp so my feet ended up with somewhat muddy soles, and dirt between my toes.

I was out there until after dark. It was a delicious experience. :)

I was at the movies, post office and ventured into an Office Max to see if they could refill an old ink cartridge I have. The associates I talked to didn't seem to mind that my feet were bare.

Went for a walk with my Dad and sister and stopped in this big field, so took my shoes off there and walked through the rass for a bit, felt great, then when I was sunbathing Dad and my sister hid my shoes and t shirt without me realising then hid lol, anyway feet are getting a bit touher so walking on the pavement isn't as bad anymore

That sounds great, really! If it's a barefoot-friendly job, bosses are OK with it and if the job is a nice one, too, congratulations!! You may have found one of the barefoot employee's dreams come true...
    :D

As for my barefooting: yesterday it was the usual Saturday shopping trip on a slightly rainy day, the ground feeling quite cool and wet with temperatures around 7°C (almost 45F). The weather prompted me to don a warmer jacket - which I also wore when I went to our fantasy role-playing group later in the evening, when the temperatures went down to 4°C (39F).

A fun evening, for sure, and also a big win for our group, since we successfully slayed a dragon (he had ulterior motives, such as planning to raise a whole bunch of undead dragons, so it was OK to blast him with about 1,000 damage points accumulated in a Dayara crystal 5th grade powerstone...).

Today, so far, I've been barefooting downstairs to the laundry room in our house's sub-basement, and later there'll be the Sunday walk in the park, too.

Wiggling toes of a barefoot dragon slayer,

Going to the bank is always a lot of fun for me because I love to stand in line and "feel" people staring at my feet.

I went over to the park across the street from my friend's house yesterday and this morning. It was about 40-45F. I was shocked how absolutely do-able it was for me! I've never been barefoot that long in that cold of weather before. My feet didn't even hurt when they warmed up.

I've been in my local bank(s) barefoot lots of times without a problem. If I ever do get an objection one day, I'll try to say that they don't have the right to deny me access to my own money just because they don't like how I dress.
I actually like it better when no one notices. I just want the freedom to go barefoot if i want to without being harassed about it.
