I went for a rather long walk around the neighborhood. Probably ended up being 1.5, maybe 1.75 miles. :)

Went to the city of Mönchengladbach (Germany) today. I had the legs of my jeans rolled up above the ankles (I always do when I walk barefoot because I like my ankles bare) and was wearing a sweater and jacket. Altough my bare feet were very obvious nobody seemed to care. No dirty looks, no stares, nothing. I encountered many women with leather boots and some of them smiled at me.

I live in The Netherlands, which is also barefootfriendly, but the main difference is that you don't have to explain yourself in Germany.

Just got back from what I call an extreme bf journey. Temperature this morning around 40F with patchy fog. I needed gas so I went to Marathon in Columbia City IN the front door stated that they prefer the wearing of shirt & shoes I went inside barefoot pre-paid for my gas, clerk never noticed customers everywhere but no one said a thing. I didn't look to see what faces if any that may have been made. Luck would have it that I over estimated how much fuel I needed so I had to go back inside for refund. Still not a word from anyone. Decided the cool ground was worth making an extra stop to Kroger, walked the entire store bf not a word when checking out at u-scan had to have clerk assist with a barcode. When she came over I noticed she looked down at my feet didn't make any type of face or comment. After all said and done same clerk wished me a great day and said come back again. My last stop for the morning was the post office to get mail from P.O Box sadly I was the only one there so no adventure. When getting home however there were some debris on pavement so I decided to walk on the grass imagine my surprise feeling almost frozen dew under my feet. Very chilly but a great feeling at the same time. Next to the leasing office we'll see what happens when i re-sign my lease.

Oh, had I but known.... we could have boosted the occurrence of barefooters on that occasion by 100 %... I live quite near Mönchengladbach (just east of Duisburg, in fact... within 10-minute walking distance of the Duisburg Zoo). Perhaps those women in their leather boots were happy to see someone daring to bare his feet in the fall sunshine we have today and secretly wished to do the same...

While it's true that Germans tend not to make many rude comments, I encounter "The Look"® quite frequently. OK, that might be due to the fact that I amplify my barefoot looks with foot jewelry, but if people wish to stare, why not give them something to stare at? :D

Wiggling bare toes, which are about to feel some wet grass and mud, while the sun is shining right now,

Just signed my lease. I walked into office and the attractive woman noticed my barefeet right away (she had on some peep toe shoes) We went through the process I signed a lot of papers and we chatted. As she walked me to the door she then asked 'aren't your feet cold?" I answered her no and that actually they felt great. I told her the sensations of the different textures were interesting. I told her she should free her toes and try it she giggled shook my hand and I parted. So far great day to be barefoot in Ft Wayne IN

Did this woman ever think that if your feet were cold you wouldn't be barefoot?

been barefoot two days in Cesena (and travelling to and from there, on countless dirt clogged trains, in couple with a shod friend and one more friend of the hipforums board waiting in cesena. we traveled (barefoot... me) to our first ranibow gathering this summer) for the political rally rolled into a music and arts festival named "woodstock 5 stars". the thing may sound hilarious but spite of being an happening organized by a comedian (beppe grillo... he insisted on free love and mass mud pit diving in case of rain but i didn't see much of both around :( ...) is a damn serious thing because well... it is a call for political revolution in Italy (nothing less than that, the first goal is erasing ruthlessly 100% of our delinquent representatives and ruling class, berlusconi first) and a radical change in our lifestyle as consumers: BANNING CARS, free water, war on unfiltered trash burning plants, on carbon , oil and nuclear power plants, and much more. also lots of folklore and barefooted people. camp life and meadows do promote the barefoot lifestyle. the last night i spotted my friend barefoot as well in my bunch of drummers and guitarists, spite of the nightly cold and damp grass, and that's news (he could have hooves instead of feet for all i knew). the festival gathered over 200000 visitors, with a spike of 130000. spite of the weather forecasting that promised merciless rain for the whole time of the festival. but in italy even weather forecasts may be influenced by politics... lol :p so we roasted under the late summer sun listening half naked to the music and the guests, including the video speeches of Joseph Stiglitz and Jeremy Rifkin, Dario Fo et al. one of the battles was leaving the place without littering, separating every little bit of garbage for recycling and banning plastic bottles to fuck. success: the place was effectively cleaner than when we dropped in the first day, and also all the many barefooters in place thank for the total absence of dog ends, broken glass, plastic garbage and so.

Dollar store. The lady asked me, how come I never see you wearing shoes? I told her I didn't feel like it, but I would soon since it is starting to get cool. It is so refreshing to hear either no comments, or genuine questions rather than confrontations in stores

    Cheers!

Last night I went for a forty minute walk/run on the rain soaked streets near my house. On the way back I wasn't more than three streets over from mine when I managed to stub my #$%*ing toe against the curb. Judging by the sound it made at the point of impact I was convinced I broke my little toe on my left foot, But after a couple of minutes I was able to walk it off. Maybe I should stay off the back roads when it's dark.;)

Snap - I stubbed my toe today on the kerb too. Hurts like a very hurty thing doesn't it ? However, within half an hour I'd forgotten all about it and carried on with my Saturday morning shopping.

My usual Saturday morning errands, namely to the post office then to the dry cleaners. At the dry cleaners, there happened to be another guy (customer) who was barefoot, too! :) First time I ever saw that in all my years of patronizing this particular business. I hope the trend continues. :D

I went to the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA). Being a museum, there were plenty of security guards, but they didn't seem to mind my bare feet. Before I went, I saw a brief description of LACMA in the LA Times Online in which the museum's dress code was described as "anything goes." I guess that's true for bare feet. I wouldn't try full nudity, though.

Today I went barefoot to a variety of places. The most memorable was a Starbucks. I've been to dozens of Starbucks and have never had a problem entering without shoes. As soon as I approached the counter today, a female employee said in a loud voice, No Shirt, No Shoes, No Service." I must have looked pretty startled because as soon as I looked up she said, "Just kidding," and smiled. She went on to talk about how she's read that running barefoot is more healthy than wearing shoes. She said she couldn't help but comment when she saw my bare feet. It was all fun - once she explained she was just kidding about needing shoes, LOL! :) By the way, she was the store manager!
