Was this version played on a movie before? Sounds very familiar.

When I was in Korea in 2003, my girlfriend at the time, broke up with me long distance. All I could think about was this song: Hole in my Soul- Aerosmith

There are many songs which make me think about people or evoke memories from a particular event/experience.

I could mention some of those but I think I'll approach this from a more abstract sense. Certain music can elicit mental vistas which I sometimes create a scattered narrative with, not unlike a dream but perhaps not quite as defined.

This song always makes me think of a rainy day with thick fog near water. Sometimes I visualize as being like out in a remote coast, with waves crashing on the land, maybe near a lighthouse or something, other times I've listened to it the '... blue lotus' line gives me a much more serene image of soft pitter patter of rain on the water of a stream with a lotus spinning gracefully.

I don't literally think of monkeys, but anytime the chorus for "What Lovers Do" begins I think of a monkey "Ooh Ooh Oooh!" :)

well the song 'one tin soldier' i think of mini-bolos, or the old role playing game 'rivits'.

i don't think i've ever seen a music video that even remotely had any connection to what the song had in my mind visualized.

for me scarburou faire is the celtic mystic wiccan thing its about. testing a potential mate's mystic powers to do these physically impossible things,
and perhaps performers at a ren faire (in authentic pre-1400s, period costumes) playing games with words and misdirection to be able to claim or say they had done them,
also you know, that whole idea connects with experimental archiology and the society for creative anacronism.

also so far, that's the only one i'm familiar with that's been mentioned.

the last time i paid attention to popular music it was string cheese incident, objects in the mirror, and leftover salmon. but even those, most of what i remember is early 70s soft rock with quasi-political themes and early 80s 'hearts of space' electronica.

jefferson airplane and moody blues. but i hope they never do to them what they did when i was that age to what had been done to what had been popular music when my parents had been, you know, i hope my 'bommer tunes' never get laurance welkd ized.

some of that stuff that is now, i'm sure would be very interesting to me, but i just, i don't have time for comercial radio. i listen to stuff posted by people who make it on the furry boards, so i have no idea really what's going on in the music world today, much as i've gotten out of touch with writers of the kinds of stories i might like. mostly because books and music have gotten way to expensive and i can't stand people trying to sell me things which i have absolutely no imaginable use for.

but i'm trying to say, i am glad this thread is here. but i think i would have to produce something myself, specifically for it, to answer that about any of them.

For a long time, this song would remind me of all the good times I had with my ex-girlfriend. It took me a long time to get over her.

Smooth Operator by Sade instantly takes me back to the day my first high school girlfriend broke up with me. :disrelieved: As I was driving away from her house it came on the radio. It still depresses me.

This entire album makes me picture two of my best friends from middle/high school, pictured in my head exactly how they looked during that time in wide legged jeans and band t shirts, and it also makes me picture the cute cashier in Hot Topic when I bought this album lol

Nothing brings on the ol' feeling of nostalgia like this album

And this one makes me picture one of my best friends the first time we ever really hung out one on one, driving around the mountains smoking a blunt and singing this song at the top of our lungs

I have nooo songs in my head, knowing that I have to go to the hospital or dentist. Actually a quiet and somber time for me. I just realize that after watching the video.

This song will always remind me of when I first joined the army and went to airborne school- same time this song came out.

You just reminded me of a perfect movie ending song- “One Tin Soldier”
This was played at the end of a Billy Jack movie. Every time I hear it, I think of Billy Jack

there's a song that's a eulogy for one of the rabbits in watership down, that makes me think of riding on one board that's kind of broken off on the ends, riding on a very shallow little creek, just deep enough and wide enough to float it, riding it down stream toward larger streams and a lake, to explore the world and see what's there. kind of surrounded by meadow surrounded by forest.

there was a song by yes, with the words "in and around the lake, mountains come out of the sky and they stand there", and that's a scene i take litterally.
there are several others like that; in a white room, with black curtains, at the station, because i kind of grew up in and around the railroad stations my dad worked for.

and then there's one by moody blues, well most of the cuts on the firs five i think it was, five or six or seven, i don't think there were more then that, the moodies backed by the london phil,
but there's one that had a bunch of furrys playing music on improvised instrument, "and they played that kind of rythim and i had to keep it with em" "and the bees stung in harmony", and something someone "on the side of a biscuit tin".

memories from so long ago all these are, i think probably before most people alive today, i guess probably weren't born yet.

you know that little poem at the end, after nights in white satin, is totally visual in a completely literal way.

"cold hearted orb, that rules the night, removes the colors from our sight; red is gold and yellow white, but we decide, which is real, and which is, an illusion"
which is, to me, mystic self empowerment, and not to be mistaken for cutting slack for deception.
