I find it strange that no one ever mentions Presence in their favourite albums lists... Achilles Last Stand on it's own makes it a great album!
It's clear american (male) public are always suporting Led Zepellin II... It's not even in my top 3 ... and i know why american like it... it's probably their most cock rock album (with Physical Graffiti). It's sound as a giant sexual zepellin...it's perfect for macho Peronnaly i vote for the more European and folk rock... Led Zepellin III
Led Zeppelin I is my favourite because "Baby I'm gonna leave you" is my favourite song and I want to play it to my sister(I got life) because she's going to France! And I'm moving to another town and I'll miss her!
uhh so hard to decide they are all so damn good, but i think i go for Houses of the Holy, just because i can only vote on 1..
II, without a doubt, though they arent a band i listen to with anything resembling frequency anymore.
the third album's my fave, but i love the first one too. and the fourth is good. dammit. there's too many.
this is my order of my favorite of the zeppelin albums Led Zeppelin II I III Houses of the Holy Physical Graffiti In Through the Out Door Zoso (IV, Untitled, Four Signs) Presence Coda
Because "Presence" show for the first time a Led Zepellin in lack of inspiration... It still a good album but it's really the begining of the end for them... Exept the 2 great songs that are "Nobody's Fault But Mine" and the Arctic guitar of "Achille's Last Stand"...the band clearly turn without new juice...it often lacks of soul (poor Page he gave the Key to the Devil Heroin)... But it's always better than the nightmare "In Trough the Out Door"!
you must not have listened to In Through The Out Door before, Jones wrote all but 1 song and its really aimed for the use of the organ, madalin, etc
Page rarely wrote songs, most of his writing came on Album III. Page was dealing with a serious Heroin addiction that kept him away from the studio. Bonham's obvious drinking problem was a hard stab to the band on its own. They were getting sick of each other, Jones was the only member in the right mind (technically). I believe if Bonham didnt drink himself to death they would have lasted a few more years because page eventually got off that nasty shit, and jones and percy always had the ambition to make more music. Just a thought.
