Shepherd's pie made with some really good potatoes and some real pasture-raised ground beef. It was seriously a spiritual experience.

Roast pork, scalloped potatoes, green beans and cauliflower with a cheese bechamel sauce that I had to remake as I scorched the first batch. It was worth it though as it was tasty.
Do you preserve it with paprika? That is the only way I have had it. It was served on rye bread with a nice shot of vodka.
I was in Rybinsk in 92 on business and had a kind invite to the home of my host. It was served by his wife and she explained it was preserved in paprika. It was actually very delicious. I have not had it since. I don't even know where it would be available here. Seeing you post about it brought back good memories as my host and his wife were wonderful to me while I was there.
Interesting. Did you visit Kostroma, Vladimir (Suzdal), Sergiyev Posad for example? It is very near. If you did not, is very unfortunate... they are beautiful places. I am happy you did enjoy your experience and good memories, even in the difficult time, 92. Maybe you will enjoy to visit again? Best Wishes
