Speaking of synching movies with music, just over a week ago, I tripped for the second time on 2C-E, along with a friend who I dosed (his first ever psychedelic trip), we watched "A Scanner Darkly" with Polish rap playing instead of the music from about 5 minutes into the film. Some parts matched up so well I nearly fell off my chair, I couldn't contain my laughter, I was hysterical for over an hour. At one point there was a 2-3 minute break in the film where there was no talking, just silence, at the same time the music stopped, then at the EXACT moment it kicked in again, 3 characters appeared out of nowhere, started seemingly dancing about and singing along, I could barely breathe I was in agony from all the laughter. As for favourite trip films, well, I find it difficult to stick to a film when I'm tripping, however I really enjoyed Waking Life the other day on a combination of 4-AcO-DMT and 2C-E, a great film, would definitely have enjoyed it sober too, it's a trip in itself. Fear and Loathing is a great one - for some reason, even in the parts with no CGI, it seems way more visual to me than anything else I watch tripping, however I usually can't get past the first 10-15 minutes as I worry that the corruption in Vegas will send my trip off on a bad tangent. I'm currently downloading The Doors (seen before sober, loved it), Natural Born Killers (believe it or not, never seen it before) and Dead Man to watch on my next few trips. Edit: Also, does anyone know of any other good "drug culture" movies, by that I mean good movies that depict groups of drug users, rather than just being a movie that's great on drugs. A good example is Freebird, any drug user from the UK will agree with me that it's really accurate in it's depiction of British stoners hah. I hear Human Traffic is another good one like that, so I'll give it a look. Trainspotting is the perfect example, but I'd prefer the film to be about party drugs/weed/psychedelics rather than opis - since I can't really relate otherwise.
Are we talking movies that trip you out or movies that are only good while tripping? All that I know are already mentioned (Fear and Loathing, The Wall, NBK). But a couple of movies that I like while tripping because they make me laugh like hell are, Thumb Wars and Kung Pow. Both of these movies are almost unbearable sober but when on mushrooms are funny as hell.
I dropped acid and saw Mick Jagger in Performance in the early 70s. It was a totally mindblowing movie. Any great concert film is worth watching ripped. Montery Pop (twice) and Woodstock (several times) at the theater were great when wrecked. Rocky Horror is a lot of fun whatever chemicals may or may not be coursing through your brain. Another oldie that got a bad rap from critics but high marks from stoners was Catch 22. Weird but wonderful. Way better than the book, IMO (which isn't shared by many).
