Whats so wrong with using wax?

sounds like you really enjoy using wax.. well i'd be into that too if i'd like sticky and gross hair o.o

way back, when i didn't have dreads and knew nothing about waxes or dreads, i saw a boy with waxed dreads in the bus. hewas sitting right in front of me and i remember thinking 'ewww those look nasty' and it made me wonder if the myth is true about dreaded ppl not washing themselves nor their hair.

can you show us a pic now and prove us wrong?

It is true, cant really do root rubbing and get the roots nice and tangled when there's wax all over it, thats why i stopped using it. Mine tangle nicely when i root rub and dont have anything on my dreads.
BUT I STILL HATE LOSE HAIR.. guess im a NOBBZ

why not just get some clip-on extensions? you can take them out each night while you sleep.

Mostly maintenance just seems like a fucking waste of time, and some is quite damaging to your hair.

seems like most people who want 'designer' dreads end up cutting fairly quickly anyway.

 

sorry i like to maintain my dreads, so I can get a job, and keep it.My dreads are turning out just fine, and they look just fine. I see nothing wrong with root rubbing, and it was showed to me by my friend who has had her dreads for 7 years. She also used wax in for a few months, root rubbed, and maintained her dreads on a weekly base. I posted her pics all over the inspiration Thread, and not one person said anything bad about her dread, in fact everyone seemed to have loved them. So i am going by how she did her dreads, minus the wax.

 

There's a difference between using wax for a few months and using wax permanently. Yeah your friend has gorgeous locks but if she waxed 7 years ago for a few months then I'd be surprised if there was wax still in there. Waxing and waxing isn't going to help. And anyway this guy brought this up before in his last thread. He's tool and a troll.

 

I wasn't meaning you (Liz), or root rubbing really... was just an observation.

But for the record I have never ever had any bother with my hair at work, or anywhere else for that matter.

 

the way this guy described the way dreads get tighter is complete bullshit. He comes off as not knowing what the fuck he's talking about immediately. And the big FAIL is that all this is coming from the guy who's bills get paid by selling wax. Of course he makes a video now that he knows people are onto his bullshit.

I especially like how he says "if you don't like how your dreads feel after waxing, just put some 'dread butta' (another product that he conveniently sells) on them so you don't have that sticky feeling. Here's an idea... how about not fucking putting wax to begin with. Everyone that has dreads knows that waxing them doesn't make them look "more like dreads" They just look like waxed sticks of hair and anyone that's seen real dreads can see that.

Finally, the Biggest LUL I got from that video is when he says you should "purge" the wax every month or so, because you always want fresh wax in there.... but he never really gives a reason why, since, according to him, wax doesn't hold dirt and is good for the dreads. (methinks its so he can sell more wax when you "purge" each month and have to use more)

Anyone with half a brain can see through his bullshit and see that he's just trying to make more money.... if he was truly making an informational video to "clear up the controversy" then he wouldn't be promoting the products he sells throughout the videos... that should be evident to anyone.

 

Oh i know it was more for Luxie n Np because they think its a Dread Fail for me for Maintaining me dreadies. yeah im going for the bartending thing, seems there was a few bar owners interested in my unique style

yeah love how he tells you to buy the Wax, then buy that other shit to put on it so it smells good and doesnt make it sticky or whatever. N people will want to eat your dreads.. :tongue:

I feel like such a fool for buying that shit when i got my dreads but i never saw this video till now.
