I just used my garlic crusher for soup.

I use it like twice a day.

It’s been awhile since I’ve given an update, so I may as well do it now. Thank you for asking, Glen.

Running Horse, usually that’s my motto… But I’ll break the rule of a lifetime here and actually get straight to the point.

    —————

The past six months has been the most productive time of my life. That being said, it hasn’t come without its own god-forsaken list of problems.

I wasn’t planning on writing anything today, so I don’t know exactly where to start. I suppose I’ll start with what’s been concerning me the most…The housing issue.

I have an apartment in Shanghai which is all fine and good, but I’m only there for two weeks per month (at most). For the past little while I’ve been in Beijing due to work, but there’s the odd time I’m in a different city. It’s usually in an entirely different province. I really have no control over the location.

I’ve been debating on renting a place in Beijing, but it seems like a waste of money. I already pay a laughably high amount for the apartment in Shanghai that I’m barely at, so tacking on another similar expense in Beijing just for the convenience of not having to move my stuff around probably isn’t the best solution. I’ve toyed with the idea of just renting a room in Beijing (you can get a master bedroom with balcony/private bathroom for about $900 a month). Once I work out the numbers, I’ll probably end up doing it. I wish I weren’t such a fucked up person and could share a living space with other people, but I can’t. It’s funny, you can rent a nice hotel for $25 a night, so it’s actually cheaper than getting your own place… The only problem is that sometimes I’m called away to work without much notice, so I only book the hotel for a few days at a time. It’s become a hassle.

Next up is fine-tuning my daily schedule. I’m up at 7AM every morning (weekends are a different schedule, but I won’t go into that). I don’t look at my phone or computer until 7:30AM. The first half hour is just for stretching and reading National Geographic (Fuck, it’s weird admitting that). The schedule is actually pretty well-oiled, but I’ve been thinking of waking up at 6:30AM instead, just so I can be off to the races earlier and fuck shit up before the sun has the chance to know I’m coming.

My diet has also been on my mind quite a bit. Since I’m in a hotel about 2 weeks per month, I can’t cook. I almost always eat out. Sometimes I have food delivered, but I like to get out of the room and be around people so I don’t get stir-crazy. I’ve thought about buying a little electronic element and rice cooker so I can cook in the room, but what the fuck am I going to do? Carry around a tabletop stove and rice cooker everywhere I go like a fucking idiot? I’m fortunate that China has really good food and that it’s possible to eat “healthy” without much effort. (I never thought I'd enjoy browsing for fresh fruit, but it surprisingly hits you with that sense of "adulthood"...)

It’s really just the housing dilemma that I’ve been anxious about. The schedule and diet stuff isn’t that big of a problem. Both of those are manageable (If I fuck up for a day, at least there's always tomorrow). I think I’m concerned about getting a new apartment because I’m never certain when I’m going to have to head off to some remote fucking location. Stability is the issue. Actually, at this very moment I’ve absolutely decided to rent a room in Beijing.

Other than that, I need to quit smoking cigarettes. I smoke at least a pack a day, which is obviously a death sentence. I’ve only been smoking cigarettes for a year, so I tell myself “It’s ok, not that much damage yet. Just quit when everything slows down.” I sincerely doubt I’ll be able to quit before the New Year, so I’m going to throw that on the list. (I once stopped smoking weed for an entire year after adding it to a New Year’s list, so I don’t think it’s outside the realm of possibility).

It was good to write this out. Probably saved me a bit of time with the list that'll be started shortly.

All I'm going to do today is enter my passport details and print off my boarding pass. I just sit and watch RT and come on here because I'm lonely and just can't be bothered right now. That simplifies everything.

Hope it all works out. I’d bump quitting smoking to the top of the list, though.

This Dr office seems to be moving pretty fast . Nothing like parking on the 12th floor.. those places creep me out.. not the height or crime. Just how it feels in a car climbing up a building inside..

I have not. I will look out for it. One good thing about xmas is all the films on T.V.

What I did watch earlier was a video of a squirrel that lives with people because it's nest was destroyed... and wow, I just didn't expect they could interact with humans like that. Then I was suggested a bunch of other squirrels who live with people videos, and all I know is that I have way underestimated squirrels.

Very funny. Actually it was pretty busy at the control desk. On the industrial sites you could usually find a few jazz mags under the couch.

After deciding not to do anything today I actually did something. Funny the way that works.
