It took tremendous restraint, but yeah, I managed to direct my focus to the ongoing sex abuse scandal in the catholic church,

Btw there’s never been a Black Roman Pontiff….lol…

I didn’t say there’s never been a Black Pope because technically the Superior General of the Society of Jesus is nicknamed the Black Pope…interesting.

I agree once two objects interact (altar boy and priest) they become inextricably connected through Quantum entanglement

I REMEMBER that song. We used to sing in the actual church, not the youth bit. Youth group was about Quasar and bowling and mcdonalds.

On this whole science thing... I find that the people who fit Irminsul's description of blindly clinging to an unproven theory are not scientists.. just everyday people who want certainty. Some people definitely do treat science as their religion.

But any genuine scientist won't do that.

I think I've only known 1 person on HF and 0 people irl that would fit that description.

There is a significant difference between ascribing to a theory without testable evidence and having blind faith in something. In a strict sense, there cannot be "proof" of a theory, those only exist on paper. But we can use "unproven" theory and untested or unobserved theory interchangeably here.

The primary problem with these seemingly unproven "theories" in science such as a "Theory of Everything" (which imo is a bit of a misnomer, I'd agree they are more hypothesis at this point) is they are based off of prior tested observations. So unlike religion, there is observable physical phemomena in which these ideas develop from.

The main problem which has lead to these various unproven theories is there appears to be a problem resolving quantum mechanics with special relativity, which by the way, computers utilize both with semiconductors and GPS respectively.

But these "theories" of Theoretical Physics are only a subset of science and theory in regards to the general macroscopic or observable approach in science, where testable evidence and observation (proof) is necessary has been explained here many times.

Nice house, there are dozens of similar homes just like that throughout my neighborhood, and with an average annual snowfall rate of 50 inches,
that scene is played out over and over again throughout the winter.

Then you aught be impressed by yourself for you do have faith. We all do. Faith in all things, that those things are as we perceive them.
