I used to have them as a kid on long car trips. They're a minor British institution. Erryone knows Jelly Babies.

Sometimes birds fly into the house.. in summer it's okay because all the windows are open but in winter they can find the single way in but then they're stuck until I open something. Two robins just came in together.

I'm just waiting for a ton of groceries to arrive. I got a lot of soup for lunches. Including lobster bisque. Sorry lobsters.

My partner is a fisherman. I've helped him with his lobster pots before. They're gorgeous crazy alien things! I hadn't seen one up close before. I just don't think about the fact they are on their way to their demise.

Oh, I know who you mean. I didn't know he was a fisherman.

It's been interesting to do things that are in conflict with my morals, and test how it feels, but now if I help it's in a way where I don't directly kill or hurt anything.

There was a day the nets were full of crabs. It took ten hours to go through them. If we'd wanted to let every crab go alive (he can't land them) it would have at least doubled that time, so you just have to break their legs off. They're alive and frothing at the mouth. I just stopped thinking of them as living things. It both horrifies and pleases me that I was capable of it. But having had time to reflect, I wouldn't do it again.

how nice to live with no screens. The mosquitoes would eat us alive in the the spring. I do love leaving doors/windows open opposed to A/C

That's true when they lose a single leg in a fight. If they have every single leg ripped off them, they're not going to live.

Yes, lucky to be able to do it... I've been on the west coast of new zealand where all the sandflies are, so I can imagine what you're describing!
