I think I may have heard the footsteps of, and may have seen, a ghost last night.

Hubby and I were outside with the campfire toward the end of Trick or Treating.

The triplets had just been brought home, in the the van, from another neighborhood. The came across the top of the yard, near the street, around the trees, and near the fire with us. Hubby was sitting with the fire and I was in the driveway.

I heard footfall. It sounded like boots with a clunky heel. I saw a figure, who I thought was my daughter in law, standing in the street at the curb watching the girls with us. I wondered why she didn't come the rest of the way and talk to us but I thought maybe she was tired. I expected to hear her call to the girls to hurry so I got the girls rounded up and walked to the street to take them to my daughter in law.

She wasn't there. She hadn't been there. She was next door, and had begun calling them from the porch as I noticed she wasn't standing waiting on them in front of my house.

I stripped the boiler and all radiators down to component parts [oil=fired central heating] and examined each part as I rebuilt it,today.
Bastard thing had decided to quit, just as the weather got cold. NOT having it-NOT accepting it. GRRR!
That prat boiler didn't take into account the stolid & immovable tenacity a Puggybear [ces't moi] has.
Ok,it took AAALLL day. BUT-everything cleaned internally, all pressures re-set,both pumps stripped, cleaned and back in place, pressures all round re-set to 1.8 bars [I still say, despite all the 'experts' contradicting me,that 3 bars is 1.2 bars too high],cleaned and vented all outlets, stripped and cleaned all the radiator feeds, got all air out of system, cleaned out all radiators, then refilled, including anti-gloop...and it's running like a good'un! YAAAY stubbornness-I was NOT gonna let the sod win-and if it tries that 'I'm tired' shit again,it'll realise there's very little joy in lying in a skip in winter! [cue Puggybear-type snarl...]

There's an armadillo outside my front door.

Hubby said he must've thought I was calling "Armadillo", instead of "Willow"

It's not frightened of people or cats.

It's just snuffling along in the leaves paying us no never mind.

Got a box full of these gorgeous, tongue 'n groove solid wood pieces... walnut. Several different short lengths, like 10-16 inches and a couple longer than that. They are grooved on the ends too, so interlock all around. If there's enough I may have a new counter/vanity top for the master bath. I have two new sinks for that project already... Didn't know what I was going to do for top surface. Hmmmmm....

I got a 12X24 inch piece of marble today, too... About 1/2 inch thick. Some other kind of stone also, the same size... They were probably samples from a tile company.

Wrist still hurts and it just happens to be on one of the back to back hockey weeks. Should be interesting. Heavy lifting bothers it but a stick only weighs a couple pounds. No idea what kind of flexibility I have in it yet.

So this year the male deer are up by the house in early November.... Actually saw one last week, so late October.

They aren't normally here until December.

Now, I know that the armadillo is responsible for the huge burrowed den tunnels in my son's back yard.

We've got to dispatch that thing. They do as much, or more damage, as gophers do.
