    The artichoke choked me....never again.
I never cooked an artichoke before. It took forever to cook, and i did not know what i was doing or how to eat it, so i kept looking online for tips and instructions. i still was clueless with the thing, and ate part of it too quickly....so some of the sppnes got caught in my throat...i have worked them out...but I think they may have scratched the interior of my throat, as that is sore today....and I did not even feel well after eating the damn thing.....and do not want to eat again...the way I feel right now....so.....if ever again i get a crazy idea for an artichoke....I am going for it in a can....

conclusion here....and car will cost $2400.00 to get fixed like new. Holy shit!...but has to be with the people who are fixing it for a week...and they give a rented car...no animals allowed in a rented car, though...oh, well....

The lady's insurance will not go up, unless she has another accident...so that was good to hear, at least.

Not here, if it is cold enough outside, at night and you leave all the windows a little opened for air, and are only gone 20 minutes at the most.....and no one else hardly in the huge parking lot at that time, so why anyone had to try to back their car right next to mine, is beyond me, too.

Sully also has separation anxiety issues.....He was a shy, scared dog when he was adopted....and his tail was bent...and the people knew they could not ask alot for him like his brothers and sister who were perfect, so that is why I picked him. He needed someone......He hid under the porch where I adopted him from, and I chose him.....shy, scared, hiding....I think those people beat him or something, and they had all taxidermy stuffed wildlife all over the inside of their house....husband kept going on hunting trips and bring all kinds of kill home to display...he had no trouble telling me all about it.........I just took Sully and took him the hell out of there, as fast as i could......
i think he was slated to be killed if no one bought him....

anyway, he has attached himself to Stan, and Stan cannot go anywhere without taking him, too....Stan's shadow....so that is why he was with us, anyway.

there are parts of aritchokes you're not supposed to eat. people have died chocking on them. just like fish and chicken bones.
they should come with warning labels with specific instructions on what parts to avoid and how to avoid them.
you can safely scrape the soft part of the inside of the scales and eat it. that's the only part, other then the heart, which is also an unsafe hazard until processed the right way.

there are lots of things that some parts of which are good for you and other parts can kill you.

i did buy that coat i talked about somewhere back in this thread, i don't remember if i posted it here or not when i did. i think it was at least a month ago.

last thing i bought was groceries,
and also had something of a misadventure with something i hadn't tried, or even heard of before.

soy cheriso. i was like "huh"? i'll have to try it.
so any way, its been a couple of days since i went shopping, i think it was thursday and its saturday, or well i guess sunday by now.

it was still saturday when this happened, creeping up on the midnight hour.
anyway, soy, this should keep better then meat, soy doesn't rot like meat does, right?

well i'm not sure what they put in it, obviously texpro, but what else,
i'll have to try and find some part of the label if its still readable.

so i went to cut it open.
    furst knife wouldn't cut it.

so i got out the big professional french cheif's knife that i haven't used in a while. and

    "SPLOYDOING"!

all over the walls the ceiling the counter, and i'm like "HUH"? how did that happen?

oh and i should mention, it was refrigerated when i bought it, rode home in an insulated bag with other frozen foods that were still frozen just fine, and went into the refrigerator as soon as i got it home, and it didn't look at all bloated or like it was going to do that. the way packaged meat does when it needs to be used up immediately and only by cooking it to death, or has passed even that point.

so, well i do know soy can be fermented, i'm not unfamilar with soy products created by doing so, but i seriously hadn't expected this under the conditions mentioned.

    1/4 oz juju.

(Here's something I didn't buy= my back is not the best after nearly 50 years of roofing-and the way the engine in the truck I'm driving is situated makes it difficult for me to do----soooooo--asked a mechanic at a well known shop if they would change the plugs for me. 280 bucks--if I bought the plugs!!!!!!!! WTF?? Did not buy.)

yeah. It's a '98. Shit, I figured even 10 bucks a plug would be reasonable. 8o bucks to change plugs sounded about right------but----I guess I'm living in a different era!
Break off? Are they known for that?

  18. SpacemanSpiff

    SpacemanSpiff Visitor

depending on engine they are prone to strip out threads and/or break off flush

a "simple" plug change in those could go as bad as needing a new head if they dont have the right (and expensive) spark plug repair tools

they fit so deep the sleeve usually breaks off inside

That's disappointing to know! I bought a tool some year back that backs out broken screws, etc, when you tap it with a hammer. You probably have one. Has a blade that digs into the metal and turns the broken metal backwards until it is out. IF--one or more breaks---wonder if that tool would work ???? (probably not, tho.)
