I totally agree with this statement because whenever Ross Kemp (Grant) and Steve McFadden (Phil) star in other programmes, they can't seem to act out other roles without playing Grant and Phil Mitchell - A lot of their acting roles tend to fit in with the Mitchell brothers' image. For instance, Ross Kemp in Ultimate Force on ITV, and back in 2000, Steve McFadden in Murder In Mind on BBC1 as a fireman, but he wasn't much different from Phil Mitchell apart from his name, which in MIM was Joe Waterman.
I stopped watching neighbours when I realised that if I want to watch someone drink coffee I can go next door, I stopped watching eastenders because I started to find it really offensive towards women, I don't want to spend my time watching someones cat get murdered and someone being raped (again) I don't watch any soaps on TV, but then enders and neighbours where the only ones I watched anyway S
Back in the 90s, I thought that all the four British soaps used to be good shows, and they were Emmerdale, Coronation Street, EastEnders and Brookside. Emmerdale hasn't been that good since Kim Tate left in 1999, and killing off Chris Tate in 2004 was a huge mistake IMO, as well as getting rid of Kathy Merrick/Glover. Coronation Street was better in the 90s than it is now, but there isn't much difference in it to be honest. EastEnders hasn't been as good as it was in the 90s, and I don't think that it has been as great since Grant Mitchell left in 1999, but then there was still some decent storylines in the past 7 years involving Phil Mitchell, the Slaters etc, the Jacksons, Wicks and Butchers'. Brookside was good, but towards 21st century, that started to a bit rubbish and deserved the axe in the end. As for Neighbours and Home and Away, I hardly watch any of them shows anymore, and i've never been a regular of them to be honest.
Yeah mate, Sean Slater just ain't got the pazazz of the Mitchell Bros. Mind you...Phil's getting a bit old nowadays. Everytime Grant comes back...Eastenders viewers go up too! All those housewives and their rampant rabbits.
As for Brookie, that was good at first, but mate... they should have killed off that fucking Ron Dixon...everyone wanted him dead, but no he just kept on being annoying.
I think Grant is one of the hardest blokes in the universe. I think that if I hadn't had fist training, I wouldn't probably lose on the psychological warfare in an eye-staring contest with Grant. People don't realize that this is beyond acting. The only reason they didn't send him to Iraq was because the MOD didn't want to embarass the Americans. It's true. He's very hard!
chris_1661 - you took the words righ tout of my mouth. First and foremost, Ross Kemp launched his career with a golf club and a very camp golfer's outift in the Kellog's Fruit 'n' Fibre advert YONKS ago. Is this the ideal move of one of the hardest men in the whole universe, or a strategic undercover tactic?? One's mind tends to wonder.. Secondly, yeah, they did both get beaten up by their girlfriends but you have to give them credit for not losing it and reclaiming the upper hand. However, they could definitely defend themselves and the injuries sustained were allegedly quite bad.. Thirdly, and this is my main point, Ross Kemp may or may not be hard. Nobody really reads into his personal lifestyle. Individuals seem to go on his acting portrayal when making statements about how hard he is. Stick Ross Kemp in a room with Vinnie Jones and then reconsider your thoughts, White Scorpion! I reckon that was all posted in good humour though, to be fair Finally, nice arrangement of soap photographs chris_1661, however, you seem to of missed out Sam Dingle's contribution...
Okay. It is evident that we have a die hard soap fan on the forums. Of course, there's nothing wrong with that. And yeah haha, I saw that extras show it was a fuckin hoot, which is why I posted that. Funniest thing I've seen in ages. The whole thing was acted (obviously) but the way Ross Kemp was like 'No, I didn't say I'm harder than you' in a PROPER shit-up manner, god dam, hilarious!
Am i mistaken or has two people spent two episodes having sex in a dirty mens toilet. It sure seems so.
Ross Kemp is a bit out of form, that's all. If he went down the gym and worked on his glutes he'd tear Vinnie Jones a new arsehole. You also have to bear in mind that Ross Kemp is quintesentially an Englishman and as such abides by a gentleman's rules of decorum, as well as the Queensbury regulations. When he confronted Vinnie Jones on TV (Extras), he backed out because he was being polite. No, seriously! If you freezeframe the bit where the scene starts to turn nasty, you can see a feint glimmer in Ross Kemp's left eye, indicating that he was in fact play-acting. I'm not taking the mick, have a look. Vinnie Jones, on the other hand, is a Welshman, and although he is a very tough person indeed, he doesn't have to succumb to Anglo-Saxon ethics, and hence can afford to be vulgar in a mockumentary. I have a good friend who is Welsh, and very often he lets one off when we're getting changed in the locker room. Although he always manages to raise a chuckle with the team, some of the officials at the MCC do not always see the funny side. Shame really, because he is a spiffing bloke, but as you can see, different cultures, different attitudes. To be fair, at the moment it may be a considerably difficult task to succumb the wild beast that is Mr. Vinnie Jones, but if Ross starts doing a lot of squats, his legs will have the necessary power to do lethal damage, perhaps even devastating. Then again, rather than live to see a tragedy just to prove a mundane point, wouldn't it be better if Vinnie joined up with Ross and perhaps bring back The Professionals, but set in Albert Square?
