Tents. Although I'm builting my own RV I'll not rule out tents ever.

I have my eyes set on a big semi-canvas type w/ a nice strong floor. Plent of room for the rugs & pillows cause I like to spread out when I rest.

I prefer sleeping out in the stars as I have trouble putting up a tent ....sometimes just not worth the trouble.

Warpedsoaper,Had to smile when i saw your camper and it really got good with pictures of the side tent.Sams club sells a modular wall tent 10W &20L 6ft.8inH(sides)9'9"H(peak) with a powder-coated 20-gauge steel frame for under 200 dollars.Weighs139 lbs.No floor. Each side wall has three oversized windows with roll-down flaps. With 8-15" anchors and rope tie-downs it's good for breezy days. All tents are a compromise between comfort, weight, and cost.A plastic-tarp lean-to with a fire in front, and bug net over your bed.

Nice night - Nothing between me and the open sky.
Not so nice night - My cosy little 1 person tent.

theres nothing quite like falling asleep outside on a crisp clear night, looking up at the stars... :)
I did it a couple times in the last couple weeks. Bad thing was, I woke up covered in dew... that, I didnt like..

there's a pretty good website for hammocks. they're a lot cheaper than ones on other websites i've looked at. hopefully i'll be getting one of these soon for my summer camping adventures. :)

Eighteen years ago I scored my first custom made white canvas tent. I have had several other canvas tents in that time but my first tent is still my favorite. I set it up primitive style with poles I've cut myself. With the woodstove goin' it's quite cozy. It has never leaked not once and it's been in some real gully washers. I spent 2 weeks camping in Montana in it many years ago and for pure comfort white canvas is the only way to go... 7.65

I don't mind. It's lush sleeping under the stars, but it's great fun sleeping in tents/yerts/ under a tarpaulin etc

Fireworks in the woods sounds like a great way to burn down the forest. Only you can prevent forest fires. If you don't have enough common sense to leave fireworks at home then you should stay out of the woods. There are enough idiots out in the forest already. Only a pussy would be scared of a coyote.

i always carried a tent while on the road, the old 2-pole and ropes everywhere pup-tent, so sleeping "out" was always my first choice.

now, these new dome tents have huge screen tops, and they're so much lighter and easier to set up.

for anyone who may be interested, i just bought a new eureka tetragon 5, these tents are great! here's where i bought mine, lowest price anywhere from an authorized dealer & he's a really nice guy: http://www.campersbackpack.com/site/746610/product/EUR-2628224-9
