What should happen to the next president who lies to his country to go to war?

I'm not perfect but I DIDN'T lie to Congress, the American People, the United Nations, and the rest of the world to cultivate support and justification for sending the militaries of the United State as well as other "coalition" countries to ensure that big, bad Saddam Hussein doesn't break sanctions and flood the world with crude oil, driving the price down and interfering with the profitability of a commodity that builds the fortunes of many who either are in power or financially support those that are. I didn't stage a trial of an "evil" leader and have him murdered in cold blood. I haven't aggressively championed a policy based on lies that has created a power vacuum in an already unstable region leading to the deaths of innocents that my supposed fair and balanced media has failed to furnish an estimated number of but makes sure I know how many "brave" soldiers are killed in this "heroic mission" that has inspired a hatred of my country that will undoubtedly be bearing its ugly fruit for decades to come as new generations of angry people turn to extremism and enlist in a violent crusade against who they see as the real evil.

I will god damned well point my finger because failing to do so enables for the criminals to continue and makes me an accessory to their crime.

A president can't declare war, only Congress, or at least in the United States

To sent an example of him, it would have to be done peacefully otherwise it'd just be another side note on the fascist regime. Media would blow the shit up!

You're on the right track- except that the mainstream media is very much on their side and will effectively silence the dissent. Their hands are dirty as well by providing the cover of silence.

Expanding a bit on the above...

An acquaintance of mine works as a freelance photographer for The Republican, a Springfield Ma. newspaper. Weeks before the 2004 Presidential elections, a memo was sent out by its parent company, Newhouse News Service to all its subsidiary newspapers that until after the election, no stories about the war in Iraq were to hit the front page NO MATTER WHAT. It was made clear that editorial jobs and careers would be jeopardized if the memo was not heeded. And we hear endless Repugnican ranting about the supposed "liberal bias" of the media. That is the biggest bullshit red herring that spews from the propaganda machine that has done an admirable job in choreographing how most people in the United States think.

Capital punishment is wrong. Everyone has the right to their own life, no matter what. Impeachment is the way to go. A long prison sentence may be appropriate, however, nobody should ever be denied the right to apply for parole, even if there's no real chance of it happening. I'd say the real problem is with the system: presidential elections should not depend on a set term...if the people really want to replace them, they should have the right to that vote... A truly free and democratic society isnt really possible unless some major reforms in the system happen. It's not so much about what the president does, it's the lack of a proper democratic system to prevent such things. Canada is a lot better but likewise, we still have a long way to go.

I've got that sadistic feeling in my mind that I want to fry that bastard, (in the id, in Freudian terms) but I'm obviously not genuinely in favour of that. For a society to act on it, is simply inhumane.

I do agree with the philosophy "let he who is without sin cast the first stone," but I'm not talking about cruelty.

This is definitely one of the better polls I've seen in a long while.

I say impeachment. But, we'll have to change the constitution and add 'lying to congress and the american people' to 'high crimes and misdameanors(sp)'

Mmmm...I 'd say a bit of his own medicine will do him some good. Send that motherfucker to the frontlines of the war. No special treatment, no bodygaurds, no easy assignments, just as a regular ass solider.
Send the rest of the motherfuckers (who support the war) from congress down to the frontlines as well. Lets see how supportive they are of it then, when they've experienced the war first hand.
If it will not happen in this life, then it will the next...its karma you see...

Yeah LSD seems to be the best option so far....

No really, as far as we strive for a better society, killing him would be useless, as it wouldn't be any different for society than to lock him up in jail or whatever. But it would promote violence.

Sometimes violence is justified, but vengeance never justifies violence.

Public/televised torturous death for sure. Bush desearves to have his head cut off and anyone that disagree's should have their heads cut off.

give him a dose of ibogaine so he'll fully comprehend the horror of what he's done and spend the rest of his life and all his wealth trying to make amends.

Wait, this is hypothetical, like the next president, right?

Then why is everyone using the pronoun "he"?

Its the stereotype that men are war mongerers that is part of the problem, I/d say.

But I think it/d be like the French rev....just kinda heads rolling everywhere...blood in the gutters...white house torn apart brick by brick...he/she would be hanged. We/re not that uncivilized...are we?

Remember a few years back when Duh'bya was concerned about his LEGACY?

Well, that is a punishment he will live with (and I hope he doesn't go senile befor realizing it like Reagan did).

For eternity he will be known as the Prez that single handedly, because of his hubriis and lies, caused the deaths and maiming of thousands of American soldiers, thousands more innocent Iraqi's, while giving impetus to terrorists and bankrupted the once flourishing economy of the nation while doing it.

I hope he remains (or becomes) lucid enough to know that he just bumped Nixon aside in the "Most Loathsome US President" category.

Does LSD have the same effect on lower life forms? I thought it was just effective on the higher cognitive parts of the brain.
