I think it's ridiculous to vote or support somebody because they belong to a particular party. Sure, I usually tend to swing more towards a Democrat but there are some Democratic politicians that I refuse to support, regardless of the fact that they have the Democratic vote!

We should combine the voter bases of the libertarians and greens under the Constitution Party. After all Bush has declared that the Bill of Rights and Constitution are only "goddamned pieces of paper" It is true that any form of government can revert to tyranny just as our once representative republic has done. But I believe that the democratic system laid out by our forefathers has its merits. We can make this republic work but we must wholeheartedly recognize and take action based on the premise that power rests in the hands of the people, the government rules from a mandate put forth by the people, and they should be afraid of us, not the other way around.
"Today, we need a nation of Minutemen, citizens who are not only prepared to take arms, but citizens who regard the preservation of freedom as the basic purpose of their daily life." - John F. Kennedy

JFK tried to change the way America did business by abolishing the Federal Reserve system and putting the large intelligence apparatus (CIA, DOD, etc..) in its place. Two weeks after his mandate abolishing the Fed he was killed by the same people who have consolidated power up to this very day.

I accidentally selected libertarian when I renewed my license, so I guess I'm that for now.

Technically I'm a Cthulhian Discordian Bob Dobbsian. But our candidates are invisible.

The reason I don't answer polls like this is it only gives the marketers more fodder for their spin.

They should also have none as an option. I haven't found a party yet that I would admit to belonging to.

I checked other, but I'm not really a member of any particular party. I just vote for whoever represents what I think would be best.

Absolutely, Distant. Sometimes the best way to have an affect is by working within the system. I blame the Greens for Bush.

question for the Libertarians: What is your opinion of environmental regulation? How should it work?

I have never really heard much on the official Libertarian stance on the environment. But they have one very good point, currently the government is one of the biggest polluters and exempts itself from any regulation or liability. Libertarians would change this by holding the government accountable as well as a smaller government would produce a lot less pollution and environmental impact.

I think Ron Paul gives a good libertarian view on dealing with pollution by upholding property rights. If someone pollutes other people's property, be it land, water, or air, then those people should be able to sue the polluter. Continuing to pollute would become finacially undesirable.

Bündnis Zukunft Österreich seems good, but it's far too light as oppose to the original Freiheitliche Partei Österreichs which it originated from.

If I move to Austria I'm voting for the FPO.

I work in environmental regulation and in no way is the government exempt from any of our regulations. That went out in the 70's. We regulate all levels of govenment, including the military, in exactly the same manner as any private business. So, a smaller government producing less pollution isn't the whole answer at all. Without government intervention, nobody would voluntarily clean up their pollution, if it cost $ (I'm talking corporations). Why do you think our environment is better than China or Mexico? Regulation that are enforced.
