Last time I got into any opiate it was clinical morphine after major surgery. No, I didn't get stoned, it just kept the pain at bay very effectively. On day four the idiot anaesthetist changed me over to oxycodone, a synthetic opiod. Hiddious stuff! Turned me into a catatonic zombie un-able to move and it didn't even touch the pain so I begged to go back on the morphine. Luckily the anaesthetist agreed.
Forty odd years ago I spent a few years heavily into heroin but after loosing six friends from overdose in one night decided it was time to stop and never went back there. I now live in Nth Tasmania in the very centre of the opium producing region which supples over 50% of the world's medical morphine and a chemical whose name I've forgotten ( an opium derived general anaesthetic). It's a legal requirement that the poppy farmers burn off their straw after harvesting. The pong downwind at my place is nasty and headache inducing. If I was inclined though I could easily just reach over my fence & steal a part of the next door farmer's crop but I'm too old for all that .

25mg Hydrocodone on top of 15mg Methadone. The Methadone is so potent and long-lasting that I probably won't need more than maybe another 10mg of Hydro.

I don't want to come across as judgemental ( I once had a huge habit myself) but reading all these lists I feel the need to point out that there is a significant difference between a hippie and a junkie.

What reason to they give for telling you not to smoke? Maryjane is a known pain reliever, or more accurately you may still experience the pain but not care.
In cases of leg tremors from spinal injury it's often a complete cure.

Maybe if you put that in the past tense ? ? I'm curious as to why you think he'd have that opinion.

This old guy actually thinks there's a correlation between the hip in "hipforums" and "junkie" which I'm sure was the catalyst for his making that remark.

He might actually think we are all hippies here doing junk, and that, by doing junk, we are giving hippies a bad name.

I don't think doing opiates should give anyone a bad name - well - until they start holding you up at gun point to get hold of your stash. My point is that the whole ethos of hippiedom, it's aims and reason for taking place were essentially moving in a different direction from where the opiates took us. I go so far as to claim the downers put and end to getting high and destroyed the entire movement. Essentially what I'm saying is that up and down are in different directions.
