Michel Polnareff:Lettre ˆ France If some of you know it: I know................i'm fan of popular french songs
I thought they only made "Pour de Nomes" or what it's called (I'm not good at french, you might have realized). I've got it on tape somewhere, but I don't know where it is, so I don't want to spend hours to find the tape, just to spell the title correct in this thread! (I only spent 10 minutes to look after it, and thereafter I dropped it.) But Pour de Nomes or whatever ("ocean of the names", in french) was great - sounds almost like Tool. -Very grungy; also very clear inspired by Alice In Chains - namely "Dirt" and "Jar of flies". Was "The package" before or later the album I just mentioned (and probably spell wrong) ? ...and, as usual, I'm listening to The Incredible String Band. "U", right now. love, !\ ! /\ /\ (_’ (_’ ! \! \/ \/ _ ) (_ ¤ ,_, ¤
Well a perfect circle's first album was "mer de noms" (sea of names) as you well said. And his second and new album is "Thirteenth step". I thought that it was going to be really hard to make it better, because "mer de noms" is amazing (I love maynard's voice), but this album is really unbelievable. "The package" is the first song of this new album, but the whole record is more than worthwhile. I can listen to this album again and again. But I must disagree, it doesn't sound like TooL. I mean, the voice is obviously the same, and it's a very particular and deep voice, but they don't sound the same, the rest of the group is different, musically, TooL is more heavy, is harder. A perfect circle has a deeper sound, more quiet. But of course, this is only my opinion. Ah!, and now, remembering the concert i was yesterday: Fito: Trozos de cristal.
Where the hell do I get that "pour" from? Obviously it's "mer de noms". I'll look for "Thirteenth step", next time I'll drop in a record-store. ...But Tool contains the ultimate 'grunginess', far as I've heard (But I'm no Tool-expert myself... but one of my friends always play Tool for me, when we smoke together).
