As far as "being a hippy", fitting to the stereotype are my perceptions of the world around us, and my love of the "little things" in life, you know, the things most people nowadays take for granted. My willingness to transcend all the "ideals" of the modern world, and last but not least, the pot smoking. And I still stick with "the music moves my soul" because it truely does, man.
drug experimentation-I've never tried drugs, so that's out. sexual freedom-nope political protest-I complain about our government, but haven't protested it. style of music-with the music I listen to, it would be the furthest thing from being a hippy fashion,hair,jewelry-My hair is really short and I keep it that way. I hate having long hair. Don't wear any jewelry except a watch. And as for fashion, I only wear what I find. So according to those choices, I'm not even close to being a hippy.
my belief that aggressiveness is what greed is a form of, and none of its other forms are worth a dam either. =^^= .../\...
In my mind, being a 'hippie' cannot be defined by drugs, music, sex, and especially fashion. Being a hippie can only be defined by yourself. To me, its about acceptance to everyone and depleting these labels. It's about being free, not being held down to one stereotype we must feel like we should fit. It's about loving yourself truly and finding in your heart the condition and understanding to try to love everyone else and eliminate the hate which this world is swarmed with. I like all kinds of music. Yes, I do like sixties music but I also like music from every time period. I have tried pot but I don't like it, so I don't do it. Even though my 'stereotype' of being a 'hippie' tells me I should. I am sexually free, but I only make love to people I am in love with. I dress in bright colors, comfy clothes, tied died, and other like-fashions because thats what makes me happy and comfortable. I also wear jeans and black sometimes too when it pleases me. That's O.K. I think that Hippie isn't a stereotype but a way of living, and finding yourself. The more you shy away from the fashions and who everyone see's you as, the more of a hippie you are.
I can't chose any option in this poll. It's my attitude and my beliefs that make me a hippie. Though my clothing reflects it...and my drug use... but those things don't make it so. ---------------- Now playing: Dvar - Ko Ki Ki
hippie is a spiritual thing.. its about being in tune with yourself, having an internal love, love for everything. Its about seeing the beauty in the ugly, and lies in the "truth".. hippie is more than all of those things in the poll.. those things are all just products of the hippie counterculture.
i feel that wat makes an individual a "hippie" is the way you view your life. your outlook on things, your intake, everything. being appreciative of things that others dont even notice, like the hot sand between ur toes on a hot summer day, or the cool grass on a starlite nite. being a hippie is not suppose to be about strereotyping. you strive to be an individual, and thus become a "hippie" in people's eyes. being a free spirit. its just about being a laid back, chill...INDIVIDUAL. who is peacful and appreciative of the small things in life. but i do say that "hippie" is not just a characteristic nemore, its the clothes of being funky and the chill slang. yes, i look like a hippie, but thats because i am one, i dont just portray one.
I agree with this entirely. Except i've never done drugs, i personally don't see the point. But each to their own. Also i don't think its shying away from fashions, i think its simply being your own true self, and standing up for your own beleifs and opinions, doing what's right.
I discuss two things online. Religion and politics. That stems from the old hippy motto "Question Authority" I upset a lot of folks by what I say, but if I didn't see the need, I would be silent and content. I've been called everything from a terrorist to an anti-semite. Because I question they way things are. You should too. x
yea its not about doin drugs just alot of hippies happen to, i respect yours as im sure you respect other peoples desicion to do them
I know its not, just the post i quoted before said it was, as it is, a common stereotype. If someone makes the decision to do drugs, that is there own choice, and it as long as they don't pressure anyone else into following them into it, or cause anyone any disrespect, I have no problem with them doing so. After all, it is their own body, and there own free decision. I just don't think that by doing drugs you instantly become hippy.
