I'm gonna be locked away in a far away, totally isolated dungeon, all alone, composing romantic dark piano-pieces until the end of the world...

... no not really :) ... I'll try to write simple songs that makes people happy, they tend to be way harder to write than tunes of misery, (to me at least). That's definitely a challenge I hope I'll be successful in.

:H Well, last year I travelled the road of the blues. This year, I am going back to my 1965 stratocaster. Gonna leave the acoustic for awhile, as everyone and their dog (have you hear how good some of them can play? Woof woof, Keraaang!) is doing that....still.

Hope to try some R'nB' (as in early 60's R'nB', not the current distortion of the term!) and some pyschedelia type stuff with a Hendrixy, Led Zeppy, T-Rexy, kinda vibe and groove. Setting off doing lessons, and getting solo gigs and doing some jingles for ad agencies. Should be an interesting year.

Love and grooves to you all!

Def a metal band...with a lot of lead guitar stuff going on...nothing cheezy however. Everything will balance out really well. I plan on doing it when I'm like 40 after I'm retired from the Marines. By then I will be able to wail out so crazy that my band will have no other choice than to listen to me do what I say...ooh here comes the ego...nah but for real I do not see myself being in a band unless its my way...sure I'll jam with people and all of that. BUt when it comes to making a band and sure my mind might change when I'm older. BUt right now I see myself starting a band totally focused on the lead guitar...me..hee hee.:H

I want to transcend fucking genres. The whole pigeonholing thing. A hardkore metal band can't rip off some blues. Dylan got sacrified for electrifiying it up. You can't have a gee-tar solo in true anarchist-as-hell punk. No melody with atonality. The shit Miles Davis and Coltrane did was viewed as blasphemous. Yet they revolutionized the whole groove. It would be fucking incredible if genres could be left the hell behind and a band could just play music. This though...is a romantic vision and someone tired as hell. So I'm thinking in the same vein as Miami. Definately go over the hip-hop/jazz route. Through in heavy latin with vocal improv. techno beats, and heavy crunchy Cream-oriented jam. With a heavy dose of the Ohio Players.

Today, I've been doing a lot of jazz. I've been listening to quite a bit of John McLaughlin and Larry Carlton. I've also been doing speed-bluesy Eric Johnson songs (I've been learning Desert Rose...), and the typical Clapton and SRV stuff, along with my Neil Young/Bob Dylanish folk...

anything that isn't played with a drum kit (like snare and bass drum), or a chugging electric guitar. I find it impossible to hear bass while a guitar is chuggin on the low strings. even when guitar is doin other stuff i dont wanna play my bass along with guitar, i need more variety
