Haha, no need, it's kind of an inside joke thing between me and chuck and people who play B.C. Rich guitars, nothing personal, teh Mary. I soooo wish I could go back to this talent show I saw, when I was in 8th grade. This dude was playing a half-assed version of Metallica's Seek and Destroy (He was the third person to play the damn song) and he had this 15 watt Marshall amp and he like... kicked it over... and people didn't clap or anything... they just sat there waiting like he was going to do something else, then somebody started this slowww clap. I remember this other time, a guy was playing Brain Stew and he threw his dad's mockingbird into a drum kit, after the song... Egh, basically... crappy songs with somewhat overpriced guitars (for the woods used... agathis and nato?!?!? Jeez), just because a lot of the youngins think they look cool... But... cool looking guitar + bad temper/attitude doesn't cover up their playing.
My fave is my 1969 Gibson SG, so sweet it almost plays itself! I have a 94 Fender Strat, made in the usa before they made em other places 12 string alvarez acoustic 6 string alvarez acoustic oscar schmidt autoharp 12 chord sitar, hes handmade in india and very challenging to play well!
An electric Fender telecaster, idont know what year model or whatever, and two acoustic guitars: One steelstringed "Cantus" (i think it says...) and a "Bjarton". All of the guitars used to be my fathers but have sort of been passed on to me. People who know him says that hes realy good but i never seem to get much proof of that. Its like hes avoiding playing in the prescense of me.
To get the scum and gunk off. Get a belt sander with some 36 grit and go nuts!!111!!one11! Nah, you can use a light coat of oil (not the most seem to like lemon oil, not the juice from a lemon, go to a hardware store and ask for straight lemon oil). If it has been a long time, I'd let it sit in for five minutes, then come back and wipe it down or use an old toothbrush and a toothpick to work around the frets. If there's lotsa blackish/grey crap around the frets and it's really gunky, sticky, and hard (damn, that sounds... ), get some 0000 steel wool, just be careful around your inlays, if you have them. You can also use mineral oil, but get pure mineral oil (the kind safe for human consumption). Other than these two oils, I would not recommend anything else. Other guitarists would say not to use anything and that fretboards do not need any type of conditioning. First off, NEVER use anything on maple boards, period. Polyurethane finishes can't be penetrated. Some shellacs can. Nitrocellulose, obviously, can be. Skin oil contains dirt, skin fragments, salt, bacteria and God knows what else. "Hand-rubbed" does not mean skin oil, it means Tung oil. By the way, I need to do that myself. The gunk and crap really slows you down, and you should change your strings about once every 3 weeks to 2-3 months, depending on your own preferences when it comes to the sound and how much you play, how acidic your sweat is... Some guys just have naturally corrosive hands, it's a weird thing. Petroleum based lubricants behave like mineral oil, don't penetrate the wood, and prevent future absorption. Most contain solvents that can potentially damage some adhesives. Corn Oil, Safflower oil, etc, probably do penetrate to some degree, but contain no preservatives. Lemon Oil, Almond oil, Walnut oil, Rosewood oil, food grade, are probably ok, but make sure they don't contain solvents like naptha or other petroleum distillates. Solvents can weaken any adhesives on the guitar's construction. You can use that shit from Gibson that comes in a 3-pack with green writing on the bottle. Luthier's choice (yeah right), or whatever the hell, but it costs alot. I like the smell of Linseed oil, but my personal preference is Dr. Duck's Axe Wax, which is actually a mineral oil based product and not a wax. It seems to work well on new, dry fingerbords, leaving them smoother and easier to play on. It's about $6 in GC, but Guitar Centers are shitholes when it comes to taking care of their guitars and providing service to you without lying or charging you a billlion dollars for extra warranties, insurance, and a case that usually comes free with the guitar. (Btw, Ebony retains its natural oils very well and hardly ever needs care.)
washburn lyon I think an lx20, it fits me rather well, it was actually built by oscar schmidt but it's still damn good (except for one suspect solder, but that is fungible) it's got a maple body, maple neck, maple fretboard, my bass is it's twin just with a rosewood fretboard
I've had solder come loose from an input jack on a '57 Reissue Strat, I had. It's fairly common, and obviously very easy to repair. You can get a soldering kit from radio shack for $20.00 or less.
I have a 92 or 93 strat. A Cort accoustic. A Takamine accoustic (one of the lower priced ones). I had a chapman stick but I had to sell it to pay bills about a year ago (was unemployed for a bit), I NEED to get another one.
Hohner Les Paul (great guitar) Aria 70's Fender Mustang wannabe(great as long as you don't expect it to sound like a fender, and I don't) Trubadur Acustic (shitty)
Hofner acoustic with a modfied action (very very low). It sounds like a good martin and I paid a 1/4 of martin price. Im getting electric in about 3 months! Do any of you recomend a epiphone?
Oh of course not. 1) You know I can play more than 4 chords. 2) You know that I'm not a "fag," as is proven by my sig picture. Good job making yourself look like a complete dumbass.
