I've been getting on my husband about skipping meals to have a couple drinks in the evening, mostly as it's not a very good long term idea for him and it's a horrible example for our children. But fuck, I would so much rather have a couple beers tonight than the over cooked pork tenderloin I had prepared for dinner.

Looked like an architect or a banker or something---but when drinking---looked like an extremely stupid, white trash dumb-ass seeking trouble-----LOOK OUT!

Even my own friends avoided me then. Jeckle (sp)and Hyde for sure. Had to do with emotional issues when young. Took one dose of window pane--Bang! Didn't drink for 22 years and was waaaaaaay better for it physically and especially mentally.

I can have a beer or two, but I really don't often. But if I do, it's always a good beer. Weed is my drug of choice these days and it serves me well. Rather giggle and tell myself funny shit than lurch around looking 'ta fight.

but food won't make him obese. it's alcohol that makes you obese. alcohol made him obese because alcohol makes you obese. he stopped drinking alcohol and he became not obese, because he was obese because alcohol makes you obese and he drank alcohol and alcohol made him obese. food doesn't make you obese like alcohol makes you obese.

I'll tell you one thing. If I don't run or walk outside, no matter how little I eat, I can't lose weight. I have to do cardio. My metabolism doesn't work as fast as yours. Alcohol alone, I am sure, can make my body gain weight. Metabolism works much slower if you don't eat food and you are talking about having too many unnecessary colories into your body? You know Alcohol contains too many calories, don't you? Also you can't live eating nothing, you can go without eating anything for 1 day but not more than one day. The next day you will have to eat food. Also, if you drink alcohol without eating anything that day, you will vomit.

Losing weight is simply a matter of being in a calorie deficit. If you eat fewer calories than your body uses to meet its energy needs, you're going to lose weight.

Your metabolism will slow from restricting calories over a period of time, but this happens over a period of weeks and months -- not days. This can be avoided by occasionally spiking the caloric intake. People don't usually run into this problem until after they have lost a significant amount of weight.

Yes, alcohol contains calories, but it's not going to make you gain weight faster than anything else unless you consume too much of it.

Are you for real, or just trolling?

I mean I can't lose weight without doing cardio. The best I can do is remaining in the same weight without doing cardio. My BMI had reached 30 and by giving up Alcohol and starting to run, My BMI now reached 25. I do too much cardio to lose weight.

It depends on what kind of food you eat. My aim to drink alcohol was to be stone drunk. To be stone drunk, you have to drink too much alcohol, which means too many calories. I had reached 30 (BMI) and I gave up alcohol and started running. I now reached 25 ( BMI). My belly had become fucking big because of Alcohol ( Beers). Right now my belly is very very small compared to how I was before. I drink too much coffee but always without sugar. Coffee doesn't cause you to gain weight but alcohol does. When I don't run, my losing weight stops by the way so that's why I almost everyday run. I do too much cardio to lose weight.

And not everybody has the same metabolism. Some people gain weight easily while some people gain weight difficult. My metabolism works slow. I can gain weight easily. Some people take too many calories into their bodied but don't gain weight. Their metabolism work fast. People like me should either do cardio or eat very little not to gain weight. No Sugar, No Alcohol, No Salt, No Flour. Yes Coffee, Yes Tea. I drink too much coffee and tea ( without sugar), which doesn't cause gaining weight. When I reach the weight I want, I can eat much more food than I do now as long as I keep running. Running should be the part of my life.

For me, it's the latter. It's just something I do every now and then. I realize after I drink that I don't really enjoy it a whole lot. I do find myself (very rarely) having alcoholic tendencies though. Where I'll have a few drinks, go to the bathroom, realize I'm out of beer and think to myself "Where's the rest of the liquor?? I'm gonna put a dent in it tonight!!" It usually depends on what I'm drinking as well. I noticed that happen when I drink Red Stripe, and the other I don't remember. For obvious reasons :D

I'm a casual drinker. I'll have a few and use it as a sort of 'social lubricant' sometimes or just to relax, something along those lines. I'll watch other people get drunk and get angry and/or irate over some of the most trivial things and conteplate how someone gets to that point. I just don't understand the mentality there.

I also grew up witnessing the effect that alcohol can have on people, so I tend to keep myself in check with it. I also have alcoholism on both sides of my family. So I very rarely drink 2 or 3 days in a row.

    "Problem?! I don't have a *hic* PROBLEMMM!!!"

I said it depends on what kind of you eat. How is this trolling to you? Alcohol causes gaining weight. So do unhealty foods. There are different kinds of foods. If you are eating burger king, it is as bad as Alcohol. If you are eating the kinds of foods that don't cause gaining weight, you won't gain weight. And doing cardio is so fucking important. I run almost everyday. And I say coffee and tea don't cause you to gain you weight, no matter how much you drink as long as you drink them without sugar.

It kind of sounds like the cardio is why you lost weight, combined with cutting out a lot of things, not just alcohol. Telling everyone alcohol makes you gain weight based on this is pretty ridiculous. Pressed Rat has been correct on everything he said.

I say alcohol also has so many calories. Unhealty foods cause gaining weight, so does alcohol. If I didn't stop drinking alcohol, I was still quite fat right now. Drinking alcohol also cause you to have a huge belly. Not only unhealty foods but also drinking alcohol, okay? I drink coffee, tea which don't cause gaining weight.

Not all types of alcohol are high in calories, and yeah too much of anything is bad for you. That doesn't mean that you should be telling PR and other people on here not to drink or they will get fat.

I could do the same thing. Hey guys, I was sick all week but yesterday I stopped wearing blue shirts and I'm better now! I also went to the doctor and got antibotics, but blue shirts make you sick, never wear blue shirts.

To get drunk, you will drink too much alcohol once at a time. And doing it once a week is way too much. You will not get stone drunk with 3 shots of vodka, right? you will have to drink too many shots to get drunk or you will not drink just 3 beers to get drunk, you will drink too many of beers. I tell you how I get drunk. I drink 7 beers, the strong ones that has 7.5 percent alcohol. And think of how many calories I take into my body to get drunk?

First, not everyone drinks to get drunk. Hard liquor does not really have many calories unless you're drinking a lot of it. Most people do not drink a lot of hard liquor unless they're alcoholics. Even still, alcohol calories do not easily convert to fat. And beer and mixed drinks are going to have more calories than hard liquor because they contain sugar and carbs. Seven beers at 7.5% ABV might average around 1,400+ calories, whereas seven shots of vodka might only be around 600 calories. What comes with the alcohol makes you more likely to gain fat than the alcohol itself. Plus your body stores fat more easily when alcohol is present.

Point is, too much calories from ANYTHING can make you fat, but alcohol calories are not one of the more likely culprits for fat gain. Chances are the alcohol you were drinking was on top of a diet that was already relatively high in calories and thus contributing to your weight gain. Many alcoholics are very thin and tend to be malnourished.
