i named the only baby i'm gonna have for a while, my kitten, picasso moon after the grateful dead song - when i knew i was adopting him, my roommate and i looked through my collection of stuffed dead bears for the grey ones, since he is indeed grey, and that was the one we liked the best i call him moon though, or moonbeam if he's being ridiculously cute. you can use grateful dead bears to name everything.
Eden Kester Mactier is my sons name, Eden was a name we saw on hipforums when he was a 12 week foetus, we loved it and it was kinda fitting for him all through my pregnancy, we were gonna go for josiah, which means to heal, after all i went through in the pregnancy, but when we saw his face it was eden. kester was my choice for first name but my husband didnt like it that much, its a medieval version of christopher.
Mikael Arlo My son's father and I knew many Michaels while I was pregnant and one reminded me thatI needed to change the spelling (Jewish sensibility about not naming after living relatives) Arlo...well if ya gotta ask... (shakes head) He is Mick in school these days. Took him 13 years to exercise his "out."
christina ashley i walked out on her dad for a few months when i was pregnant and while looking at names on my own i decided on nahani but then in a sentimental moment i decided her dad ought to have a part in it and so i chose christina which was a name he had liked in a discussion we had before i left. ashley just went with it prettily.
My 15 month old daughter is "Reilly Deborah". Why? We were going to use "Reilly" whether the baby was boy or girl because my husband is Irish and also it means valiant. Deborah was for my moms name. My 10 yr old son is "Brent Robert". Why? Because Brent is a fairly uncommon name and Robert is my sons, fathers middle name also.
Seeing as how I've none of my own, i'll answer for my mom Jason~ named after a kid in....an 80s tv show that i cant remember the name of Kenny~ his dad made a deal with his roomates that when he had a son, he'd name him Kenny, the other roommate would name him bill, etc Joan Marie~ my mom read in a book where the kid was named using the first names of each of the grandmothers, hence, Joan Marie Mark~ named after a football player and me! becky~ named after becky in tom sawyer and theres our saga use it wisely
I want to do ones for our names too. Ellen Diana- My mother had a cool aunt named Ellen, and Diana for Princess Diana. David Randal- She says David was for David Letterman, but I think she just liked it at the time. Randal is my dad's first name. Adam Earl- Adam was chosen because it went well with Earl who was my mother's father.
Raven, because we are a bit native american, the raven is the jokester, the black bird. plus i thought she would have black hair(her dad does) but she turned out a bright redhead Gavin was looking through baby names and saw that it went well with Ravens name, a bit of spelling difference, but it also means white hawk.
Well no kids for me yet... But my name - Sasha Josephine - was because my Great Grandfather was from the Ukriane and to honor our heritage my parents picked Sasha. Josephine was my Great Grandmothers name who I spent a lot of time with as a child. She lived to be 92. I
Mason Graham It sounds good with our last name...not much did. And I think it fits him well as a kid and as an adult
Alright I'll answer on behalf of my parents too... My first name* was the only name they could agree on. Always felt they should have tried harder, but the other options sucked too. My middle name Clair was after my cousin Claire, Mum and Dad were very fond of her. Dad tweaked the spelling because he thought it was more authentic and British (the irony being it's a French word) and... Richard Thomas Richard again was the only thing my folks agreed on, literally the only boys name on the list (good thing I was a girl) also the name of a good family friend. Thomas was my pick, after Thomas the tank engine (I was three!) which makes for a neat story. My brother found it funny. I actually like my middle name (it just doesn't go with Sage) and would possibly use it for a future daughter. Not that egoistical seeing as I wouldn't be using it myself. Always liked my brother's middle name too, as I say I'd use that for my own son as a tribute. * I will never tell
No kids yet, but the other day at work I saw a man come into the store with his daughter, whose name was River. I'm not so much into the nature names, but River, I think, is a pretty name. And she was very sweet.
Victoria Rose- 12 yrs. I was 8 mos pg and he insisted on us having a boy. I knew who she was through a dream and said we needed a girs name. He didnt like any names, we couldn't agree and then we were in a country candle shop and the sample candle was "Victorian Rose". I said what about Vicoria Rose. He agreed. we call her Tori. I am now 8.5 mos preg w/baby #2 Girl- Sierra Shaa'ji (Navajo for Sunshine pronounced Shawn-jee). Mountain Sunshine just feels right for her. If she should come out a boy- Hunter Phillip after Robert Hunter and Phil Lesh.
My daughter's name is Rhiannon Cadhla... Rhiannon from the Welsh horse goddess which means Great Queen... Cadhla is pronounced Kyla and is from the Gaelic "so beautiful only poets can describe her".
