Not only did Naitive Americans go to war with eachother long before Europeans came, bun they often took their enemies captive and sold them as slaves.

 

There is something called enlightened self-interest that says that when you are a newcomer you learn what you can about the new neighborhood from long-time residents.
Of course they can potentially learn from you too since you bring news and ideas from afar...

They introduced squash, tobacco, potato, tomato, maize, llamas, turkey, guinea pigs, knowledge of local weather, medicinal herbs, rich folklore.
We brought horses, cattle, sheep, goats, chickens, okra, watermelon, cabbage and related plants, wheat, barley, oats, firearms, technology, Old World faiths.
