Because of the dominating, cocky role of the male in modern cheuvinistic society. Males are expected to be a certain way and I can understand how this concept can prevent women from feeling totally positive towards manhood. Women dont have this, however. Unless someone was gay because they were unable to respect women's autonomy or rationality (not necessarily a correct stereotype but one that arises from a generality nonetheless and influences that person's experiences). I havnt heard anyone explicitly say this but i can imagine it is true

So, the reasons you say you cant understand why gay guys are gay were about physical aspects, but you say you understand why some girls are lesbians is about the male personality / ego?

If you really dont understand what the gay guys are looking at / aroused at, then it follows you dont understand what the girls are looking at.

Dont make the mistake of thinking becuase you are bi that gay guys think the same way about guys as you do or that any guy does for that matter

 

Women have had social expectations on them to be submissive. Most gays that I've met aren't attracted to submissiveness, in men OR women. I'm not saying this is totally a reason why people wouldn't have sex with women. I'm just confused as to why you can understand why women wouldn't be attracted to the opposite sex, but can't understand why men wouldn't be.

 

We like what we like, and there isn't always a clear or obvious reason for it. Gay men find men attractive, and you could ask ten different gay men what attracts us to other men, and you might just get ten different reasons.

My entire life the majority of my friends have been female, although I do have to admit past thirty I have to be a bit pickier with female friends.

Prefer interaction with most of the female population vs 75% of the male population

That along with the - lets assume all gay guys want to bonk any guy thing, you only really get from the bottom 2/3 of the straight male population, easier for them to assume that than admit to themselves they arent hot enough to attract the gay guys, let alone the girls.

Some straight guys go through grade and high school and even college with barely any interaction with girls, especially if they dont have a sister, those ones especially are the most clueless and annoying

that was not the context here. the context was not accusatory but an inquiring one. the OP just doesn't understand how men could be attracted to men. he presupposes that it's not completely natural and that it could be rationalized based on cultural and/or social influences.

i understand how he can be confused about this because, honestly --- i don't understand how men can like women. i just don't get what it is about women that men find sexually attractive. to me, it seems unnatural (i know it isn't, it just seems) whereas men being with men seems natural. as you see, i have the same idea about heterosexuality that heterosexual men have about homosexuality. and it's due to me having experienced only one sexual expression -- homosexuality. the fact that the OP doesn't get why men like men implies that despite whatever sexual experimentation he has gone through in his life, he has experienced only heterosexuality.

What's to understand about sexual attraction? Obviously it's individual, and not something you reasoned out and made a decision on. Reasons are reverse engineered. I like A. A is B. Therefor B is the reason to like A. Nobody really knows why they like one sex and not the other, so why would you expect someone else to?

Sexuality is in our brains, programmed since BIRTH...not along the way. So you can't turn gay, you are born. I started liking guys when you began to like girls, before the teen years.
