apparently you don't know anyone with alzheimer's.

hmm, important object... maybe my truck, or my keys since without them i don't have the truck or an apartment, and i can't do my job... i don't know, it feels like something must be more important, but i certainly can't think of anything..

sorry but my dreams and living inside my head are the only things i'm ever able to hang on to for long enough to get really attatched to. probably the one object, as objects go, that contributes the most to making my life worth living, is this computer.

not so much its connection to the internet, though that is part of it, but also the other things i do on it and which it enables, encourages and inspires me to do.

there's really not all that much of a material nature i can get my hands on that does all that much for me. not that there aren't lots of other techno things that would if i could. like milling machines and rapid prototyping hardware, hernia gauge trains, even earth moving equipment and alternative energy hardware, all of which, along with a big piece of land out in the boonies somewhere, i would invest in, had i the werewith to do so.

the computer comes as close as any one thing can, to taking the place of all of that, and providing SOME of the gratification i would get from being able to use and be creative with the rest of it.

I have a stuffed duck which was my great grandas many years ago. She had a stroke and was paralyzed when I was still a baby, so my Grandma got her this duck to hold while she was in the hospital bed ... she held that duck day and night for 8 years. After she passed away, I was given the duck ... I will never let it go.

My Martin D-15. It's getting me through some pretty tough shit right now. Generally I'm not possesion oriented, but there's something very thereputic about playing it. It's important to me because it contributes to my well-being.

are you saying your fiance is a tangable nonsentient object? would you care to describe this object in greater detail? is it mobile?

and you know, in my previous post i forgot all about to mention my borg telepathy implant.
