I have a Djembe and it's a magnificent thing. The only problem is my drums goat skin stinks out whatever room its in, so I hardly ever play it as it's never nearby. Of course with tablas you don't get that problem, and I'm hoping to buy a pair soon. Please say there are some tabla players here who can tell me how you use the talcum powder and tuning hammers!
You rub the powder on the hammer, then smash the instrument. If you're lucky, it'll smash it up in a way that makes it sound good. You might have to try it a few times.
Well, I just got another guitar, so I shouldn't be getting any new instruments any time soon. I'm much more likely to pick up this Shure condenser microphone I've been eyeing.
