That's fair enough, but i'm not talking about the newer games though. I am talking about when one was Square, and the other Enix. To me, it just seems like another case of Sonic Vs Mario- both we're more or less the same at root level. To be fair though, I have seldom played them, they aren't the easiest games to get hold of really. Never made an impact here like they did in Japan, not like Final Fantasy anyways. So because of that I will take your word for it, and assure you I have played nothing of the newer stuff. I have avoided most recent RPG's apart from the FF range, mostly down to my hatred for a lot of the new game consoles.
Heh, you think? I'm playing it now. I tried to avoid it for a while I bought a copy. I'm at chapter 12 and still basically walking in a strait line. Lovely graphic, boring game-play
And FInal Fantasy VI on are hardly very new I will just settle for being put in my place. I'm not the sort of person who tries to push an uneducated opinion around- as I have said I have only played the platform very briefly and it didn't really stick. So, in regards to what the game offers, i'm sure you know better than me. My initial statement was only a passing thought
Yeah but Final Fantasy hasn't changed much haha. It's all the same but it's still sick. I haven't played FF in a while but for once it seems like not ALL the script is done by japanese people. Like, you know, using the word "Damn" ever two seconds and shit
Yeah it's not new in regards to temporal placement, I just meant that the arrival of FFVI is what marked a major shift for the series, a progression towards a more cinematic based game, with (seemingly) complex plots and lots of character development. This came to fruition more so in FFVII.
That's fair enough actually. I actually quite like the voice acting in this one. Apart from Vanille of course, but she's a lesbian anyways so whatever.
I actually like the "straight line" approach implemented in FFXIII. In other games, I'm kind of OCD about DOING EVERYTHING, so in massive, open-ended games like Mass Effect or Fallout 3, I get paralyzed by the kind of meandering, directionless tone of it and end up not playing at all. This is why to me, FFXIII seems like a very honest stab at the JRPG, because truthfully, JRPGs have been linear FOREVER. It's always been a matter of story progression by *defeating certain boss* or *going to certain town*. The only difference with FFXIII is that now you might not experience the eternal bliss that comes with finding a treasure chest containing a lonely potion hidden behind the door of an out-of-the-way house.
That's exactly what I miss! Nah I just loved the world maps, the towns, the more personal approach to the game. Me and my friends play it, and we are all going through the motions are completing things in similar ways and means and I just love the complexity. You mention the towns, and there really hasn't been any! It's just a case of style over substance in my eyes  It's better than 12 though, that's fair sure. Just wish it was basically the game it is now with a couple of touches 12 kept from the older ones. But you can't please everybody I suppose, and it's certainly not the worse game I have ever played. I think the Paradym system is actually kind of good, they actually incorporated the turn based approach into real time speed like they have been trying to few years.
I love doing everything! I hate it when I beat a game in like, 5 hours. Makes me feel like I wasted my money :/
What's even worse than there being no towns is their reason for there being no towns - they said "towns" would be too expensive to make in HD lol. But yeah I love the Paradigm system, it gives the fights a much more strategic feel. Instead of micromanaging every little command for every character through menus, you take more of a tactical approach and direct the flow of battle.
I like the sound the crystarium makes when you have a lot of points and you hold the button down for a while.
The Crystarium is pretty. Also, those little character portraits that are in color and move for a bit before fading to black and white and going still when you enter the Equip/Status screen are fantastic.
That's ghey, they should spend more money Goddamit, not like they make a chuck or anything from game sales. Lightning is sort of like a dude. But as initially stated, it's all about Vanille and Fang. I think they herald from the isle of Lesbos, thus, making them dudes
I hate Hope so much. He says "I need to be stronger" every 5 seconds. By the way I'm only on chapter 6 so please no spoilers
Yeah, but I kind of understand their desire to cut costs. The average development costs for an HD, AAA-title game is like $40 million this generation, and I imagine FFXIII costs even more than that to make.
