Humans do not all have the same goal. We just like to think that. True, we in general all want the same kind of things but in reality not for everybody else (well, we may think so in theory but when the shit hits the fan it appears otherwise) but primarily for us and our own loved ones. There is no goal or point in life by default other than to survive at first. It's when you yourself give your life a specific goal or find a point in life you find worthy that gives your life a real goal. To me it seems a worthy goal to 'do good' and make life as pleasant as possible for as many people as we can (does not seem a delusion to work on that at all) but that is not inevitably humanity's goal, like its our purpose. There is no purpose other than that individual parts of this thing called humanity gives to their own lifes. When a majority of people all have the same goal it may seem like its humanity's goal as a whole but it isn't (imho).
If you are serious and not just overly sarcastic you must be focussing on a little part of humanity (cause the majority is not actively busy with football nor wars). Also, lots of people think of cleaning up on a regular basis but what makes the real change is turning that thought into action Do you? If not, it is hypocritical to put it like 'they should'.
if people think we need some kind of shared common goal, how about we just stop screwing everything up for each other?
That video is the perfect analogy for people under the delusions of religions. As a result of so much of humanity's heads blindfolded to truth and reality, it's now going backwards, unable to see the way forward, bumping into things it can't forsee, running scared thanks to religious dogma. Relying on faith (that God might come and let them "see the light" in heaven), rather than logic or science, they remain blind to what they are doing. "They know not what they do", just like the cat. They are lost in today's world, hence the willingness to let fear undermine progress while they watch society regress to barbarism and further, unmitigated exploitation of humanity as well as the planet itself. And yes, the video is laughable, but humanity's situation isn't.
I did not find the video laughable...I found it quite disturbing for some a hole or 2 laughing at a cat's dilemma...I would have helped that cat out immediately......
I don't see it limited to religious folks. I also don't think it counts for every religious person. It also seems christian dogmas are taken less literally and regarded less sacred then in basicly any other time in history. In fact, the far majority of religious people today do embrace logic and science as well (of course they never opposed 'logic' or 'science' as a whole, especially science is such a broad term). So I have the feeling you're a bit off here.
