haha none of us knew you had to believe in it for it to be real....after all i was just chillin with him last night.
I just want to thank everyone who actually replied to this post, I haven't been on for a loooong time... And it's taking me forever to read everything lol. Anyways, thanks again!
you don't have to believe in anything for it to be real. but there are somethings you can only experience with your feelings and some deeper part of your true self. neither of which having all that much to do with anything anyone thinks they know about it. nothing has to exist. nothing has to not exist. nothing that does exist has to resemble what anyone thinks they know about it. many things inevitably exist that no one does. something greater then ourselves about which no one knows anything other then that it intends us no harm and my even love us and wish us well could certainly be at least one of them. but i think that's really the main point, that something does exist, we can experience the company of its existence, and nothing anyone thinks the know about it needs to be accurate for it to do so. that's also where organized beliefs screw up: trying to tell people what to believe about it. =^^= .../\...
Sure there is a God... God is just another word for the infinite, or the One or the Truth or the greatest things... Stop wasting you time and live your life and help people.
"god" is used to keep people from asking too many questions. Whats the most commonly asked question... What are we....or any variation of that. Keeping our minds occupied with religion is a simply way for us not to open up to see what possible could be real. Think about the big "no no's" in society today. Drugs, and alcohol. which help your mind to expand and see things for what they really are...basically they get you thinking more in depth in things so you figure things out you shouldn't know so....i believe the government uses religion as a ploy to keep us from expanding our horizons therefore I do not believe in religion...I believe in peace
How do drugs and alcohol help expand your mind to see things for what they really are?? The drug users I know are far from enlightened and my personal experience is that drugs cloud the mind. Drugs change your brain activity and functions from normal to abnormal. As for God and religion, a belief in God is fine as long as you don't let it blind you. People should, in my mind, search for truth instead of accepting blindly what they are taught. Any religious belief should be challenged until everything you believe to be true is either PROVEN to be true or untrue, even in death. Many religions teach that to be accepted by God you have to believe in and worship that God and follow that religion. I would more readily worship a man who is accepting and all loving than a God that is not. If a God does not accept me unless I bow down to him, even if I live my life like a saint, then he can kiss my ass.
If you see my profile; you'll see that i'm a Christian. Christianity teaches that you shouldn't doubt your religion and try to prove it exists. Jesus already did that for us. Also Christianity, Judaisim, and Islam all teach that God is loving. How I believe that God exists is just from faith.
That's cool, but do you test your beliefs and not let them keep you ignorant of other views? or do you 100% except them as the truth?
Yes. If you ever experience the transition from regular drug use from giving up, you'll find that drugs, like religion, offer an uncanny ability to believe "you're right". You feel ecstatic, you marvel at the conclusions you've made, you become ultimately content with dreaming and being - but unless you spend a good enough time clean, a good long time, you'll never be able to filter what drug fueled ideas remain true when subject to scrutiny and which ones are incredibly stupid - and trust me, most of them are stupid, if not very obvious and ordinary.
Also Christianity, Judaisim, and Islam all teach that God is loving. How I believe that God exists is just from faith. lol But you Forgut you are afraid fo God to... That one thing that makes it weird. You have to Love God but Fear him too...
GoAskAlice stated it very well. God is a tool to keep us imrpisoned. We are all Infinite Love, in true power. We are everything, and yet nothing exists. It's all an illusion. We are in charge. Religion (and all kinds of other programs) are designed to keep us down and make us think we're small. We can never be the all powerful if we acept that someone else is.
Well to clear some things up I'm not on drugs...I mean i do drugs but not enough to let them effect the way my brain functions....I thought all of this before I began doing drugs so no...drugs do not mess with your head...I guess for some people they do but I believe if they mess with your brain so badly you can't disifer what is reality and what is your imagination...you shouldn't be on drugs. Drugs do enlighten me and your basically being predjuduce(spelling?) against me for believing in my beliefs about god...No I don't believe he's real if he is the all mighty powerful then he can do anything right? Well he sure isn't doing much to save us now is he...we blatently disregard the warnings environmentalists are saying about our earth our air and our animals...Think about 9-11 those people were just doing what thier "god" told them to....that was their religion and now look what it's got them...U.S bombing them...just becuase of what they believed in. I think religion is used to stop us from askign questions and to keep us from every finding world peace....religion seperates us so much how can we ever find world peace when religion is still different in every country, school, and hosuehold? Furtherr more...if each religion says that you can't believe in more then one religion and to got o heaven you have to believe in their religion are we all going to hell?
I like the beginning of this thread, Quest Techie makes an excellent point. I thought of evolution once from a perspective of a book that is almost bio-determinist about our free will. we now know love because we evolved to this ability. BUT, could love always be there and we just evolved to know it? I like the Idea of abstractness always existing without concretness. existence is not limited to matter, in an opinion of my smart friend, existence of nothing is defined by its existence. as to wheter God is, I believe God is, with or without my comprehension, as bible says it is a matter of faith.
I very much like this thought too. I came across a philosopher once.. whats his name.. anyway. He took for the common ground a fact that we have a mind. It is a world of our own that we create, with imagination, memory, feeling, etc. and then he made the very observation that others have a mind, too. the unifying concept for everything else besides these minds (the environment) would be a mind bigger than anyone else's, where all minds reside.
Every time you use it affects the way your brain functions, at least while you're intoxicated. Drugs do "mess" with your head, that's what causes the feeling of intoxication. It has been proven over and over again that many drugs do have profound long term effect on your brain. How have they enlightened you? and how am I being prejudice against you? That was directed to me right? They were not doing what their God told them to do, they believed they were fighting for their religion, but it was not their God who told them to. Terrorism is not what Islam is about, that was just their idea of what they should do for that religion. Cultures are different, people’s views are different, religion is not the only difference that separates people. We have to be accepting of others views, people who fight in the name of their religion are usual just using that as an excuse. Differences are always going to exist and so will ignorant and unaccepting people.
Hey I'm not saying your being predjuduce...I'm just saying my personal belief is god isn't real just by the way i think...I have my own religion I guess you could say but if I tried to start a new religion with my beliefs this would happen people would say I only think this becuase of drugs...clearly drugs do things to your head I just personally think there is no long term effect wheter or not it's been proven...I think alot of that is mind over matter...my parents did pot, shrooms, and acid throughout there childhood and my mother owns her own buisness and my dad is the boss of a truss company...I don't believe all the government tells us is true...like I said i think alot of stuff is to keep us from asking questions. Like personally...I think alot of people are paid big bucks to say some of this stuff...when you think about it look at the bad image the media put on marijuana back in the 60's...they said many many things that now have been proven un true...so I just really find it hard to believe now that tehre telling the truth about some things they say...that's all. And as for god I don't thinkn there's a "god" I believe there is a higher more spiritual place...But I don't think someone just created us and our planet.
GoAskAlic3 is on the right track. Seriously. Now this is just my assumption, but I get the feeling that you are aware that things are not what they seem to be, you know you're being lied to, but you have no been exposed to the information that will allow you to know the truth of what's happening. You know what isn't going on, the official story, the movie version of events, but you do not know concretely what IS going on. I believe I sounded a little superior there, sorry. I couldn't find a better way to word it. There is much to learn, but I will refer you to the work of David Icke and Jordan Maxwell. Very good authors, I'm especially a fan of Icke's work. Read a bit of their material and what's really going on will quickly become clear.
