I believe in an entity that no one can experience with the normal human senses; yet this entity generates all the matter and energy in the universe, and even created space and time. Does that make me a theist, or a particle physicist?
I was thinking more of Superstring. Most self-respecting particle physicists believe in it, and it has all the properties I mentioned. It defies empirical verification or refutation, especially since a superconducting supercollider is politically/economically out of the question. My point: don't be too hard on us religious mystical types.
I'm not sure what you mean by entity. In the most common meaning, something that exists as a particular and discrete unit. Superstrings wouldn't fit that description.
