Whether or not the founders are your traditional "hippies" is really a moot point by now. The people who frequent this site are what make this place Hipforums, not who started it. The vast majority of e-inhabitants here are very "hip" in their thoughts and hence, we have made hipforums hip just by calling it home.

This type of support for healthy discourse and individual expression is at the root of all healthy communities and governments.
