positive progress is not specific at all. In what way do you plan to achieve positive progress? What do you wish to change? What is your definition of progress?
I'm asking you HOW you intend to move forward with an "absent of negativity". I'm asking you to propose REAL solutions to the problems you have presented in this thread. You are being intentionally vague because you realize you have no real solutions. I'm glad you realize that. It isn't something to be ashamed of, the world is an incredibly complicated place. You simply need to realize that criticizing what people have built and what people have died for is simply not enough.
Here is a thread in which the problems with society were recognized and pointed out and people offered viable solutions. http://www.hipforums.com/newforums/showthread.php?t=425761 Nowhere in this thread was there a group concensus reached about how to solve society's problems, because it just doesn't work like that. However, many people offered individual solutions. If enough individuals plan their own path and think of their own solutions, a group concensus will eventually be achieved.
You can't build a pyramid from the top down. There for my platform for social change has no one specific feature of change. Be positive let yourself create and input and progress/move forward through time.
Doesn't have to be bitching. My grandmother has Alzheimers. There is no solution, should I have refused to diagnose her or comment on how upset I am?
Recondition the atmosphere in which human beings live through social movement, art media and technology. Of course one man can't do this alone.
I don't find that example to be relevant to the topic at hand. Thats something that effects you on a very personal and emotional level and its something that can't be changed. In this case, the OP was talking about the ills of society without offering any ideas on how to make society better. That kind of thinking is fatalistic in my opinion. Its like, "okay, the world sucks. The world should operate in this manner, but it doesn't, and there are no viable solutions so I'm going to sit around and complain about how I wish things could be different." Its okay to be fatalistic when it comes to a disease like alzheimers. You're not a scientist, you can't find a cure tomorrow. All you can do is vent to anyone that will listen and be there for your grandmother. But in a less than satisfactory society, every individual has the power to initiate change starting immediately. This is a start. As you get older I hope you think of more specific ways to use social movement, art, and technology to initiate change. Change does really start with yourself, as cliche as that sounds. If you are creating beautiful art, or using technology to spread ideas, or even doing something as simple as starting a garden to get closer to the earth, it might not make a huge impact but it will make an impact on someone, who will in turn use your actions as inspiration to act themselves.
Because your basic philosophy is unsubstantiated and non-existent. Pardon me for living in real life.
So natural human brain functions that are largely ignored in modern society are "unsubstantiated and non-existent".... And the moon landing was fake.. Get real dude. At this point your really just trolling for bullshits and giggles.
So you're saying your basic philosophy is equivalent with "natural human brain functions that are largely ignored in modern society?" What does that even mean? I'm really trying hard here to understand. You have to realize you aren't giving me a lot to go off of.
Sorry, but to suggest Noam Chomsky is 'part of the problem' because he writes scores of books and articles on certain aspects of american foreign policy which are fucked up (and yes, this is what he does) is a little rich. People who point out problems are just as essential to people who find the answers.
what do you mean by natural human brain functions largely ignored in modern society? Neo isn't trolling. He's just trying to point out that some vague philosophy that you seem to be having a hard time putting into words will not get you very far. Allow yourself to be challenged by the questions people are asking you. If you want to make significant social change, you're going to have to be very specific about both the problem and the solution.
Well now you're just putting words into my mouth. I've never read anything by Noam Chomsky, but I'm sure that his writings are well-researched and well-thought out. The OP is being a little vague about not only the solution but the problem as well. don't misunderstand my intention. I'm not trying to critisize the OP; he's young and entitled to his idealistic opinions. I am merely trying to ask questions to encourage a little bit of critical thinking. The OP said he wishes to use art to create a social movement. This is exactly what writers like Noam Chomsky are doing. He uses writing as a medium to raise awareness. In order to raise awareness, one must speak in specifics and not generalities.
Positivity is a natural human brain function. And it's importence in modern sacioety has immensly deminished. It's unarguably the most important thing to the well being of a human being and in todays world it's the last thing on many peoples list. Besides this the princible of the emotion is not aplied much in todays culture. You cannont progress to perfection as a species through negativity. So the only rout for humanity is positive progession. It's a natural want and as seen in nature and in the human species it produces the best results from and for everything. Like I said in another post you can't build a pyrimid from the top down. If you want politcal change you need social change...
back to square one. What type of social change would you like to see? Do you think the solution is just for people to become more positive? I don't disagree, actually. Its far more complicated than that, but positive thinking and a positive attitude generally always generates positive results.
