the 22 irish people who have lost their jobs because of hackers are'nt celebrating!it's a case that will go on for a long time i'd say,but hopefully the hackers will be brought to trial and justice will be done.

i never said anyone was celebrating, i was just glad it had been shut down as it was clearly a company with little moral value, and as i understood it workers of NOTW are encouraged to apply for other jobs within murdochs machine.....also why is it only the 22 irish people that matter?

the tabloids get all the abuse they deserve in my opinion.

they are generally bigoted, racist, amoral, incendiary and ruthless,
and treat their readers with contempt.

if you worked for the NOTW I don't think you can have a conscience,
and I have no sympathy for losing your job.

one down, the rest to go.

only coz they know there readers are morons.

but yes i agree, these papers don't report the 'news' anyway about 90% of the pages in these papers are celebrity riddled tat, imo.

i also hate the way papers can ally themselves with political parties. i believe the press should present a balanced view of politics not ram down readers throats there own views. a lot of people won't think to question what is written and take everything murdoch decides is right for print as the gospel truth.

where did i say its only the irish who have lost their jobs that matter?nowhere!being irish i have been listening to our local radio station at work today and heard interviews where our guys were still tryin' ta come ta grips with the sudden loss of their jobs, through no fault of their own.as for newspapers i dont even read them.its only people who do that have opinions on that.my heart goes out to every innocent victim of the hackers, not just my own people.and i am more interested in justice being done by all concerned than what kinda rag it was.and the reason it was forced to close down in the first place.the hackers did'nt have much moral values did they?,in not considering the loss of jobs their actions would cause.i believe in humane justice!,so feel free ta shoot me at dawn. ha! ha!so be it!

And now Andy Coulson has been arrested. I bet he'll have the time of his life, prisons are like bloody luxury resorts nowadays - they all have TVs and video game consoles and all the stuff they want!

Ironically, I think this is true because I read it in the News Of The World.

well seeing as you only mentioned the irish.....i assumed there importance in your eyes, in relation to the other nameless raceless people who are also without there jobs this morning.

and as for only people who read newspapers having an opinion on them, well i find that a bit short sighted. i don't and never have read newspapers but i do know what each paper stands for and what kind of news is reported and published in each, and in my mind, know there worth as a paper.

of corse the hackers didn't have any moral values this has already been said, but i personally feel more sorry for the victims of great tragedies who have had there privacy invaded more than the workers of the NOTW.

as for the shooting you at dawn bit.....over reacting slightly aren't we?

*quick, who's got a gun* :leaving:

    JUST KIDDING! :2thumbsup:

i'd lend ya one a my guns, but t'would'nt be legal.chillout!i was jokin' you just did'nt get my kinda humour. ha! ha!i do get where your comin' from 'bout news rags.but i think they can be negative and positive.there are lots of brilliant journalists in the world who have done great humanitarian works, that have helped many people.an so many who have already died for it.being murdered by people who were tryin' ta keep the truth ahide.so there is for and against with all rags.i was just thinkin' bout the topic in question at present, in the loss of jobs.thats all.and every human being is important in my eyes.as their is only one of all of us!:)

i was just kidding too. we must have different humour receptors

and i totally agree, i wasn't saying all papers are worthless but some are in my eyes. and you are quite correct that there are many amazing journalists out there in pursuit of the truth which is great, but some are just out on the make, if you see.

and that's nice you view every human being as important, i feel that some are of slightly less value than others....such as these phone hackers for example. a lack of moral fibre prevents me from giving them the same importance as i would to others.....as with many other people.

as the old orwelian phrase goes, 'all animals are equal, but some are more equal than others'

    am i deviating here?

i dont know what deviating means,so i dont know if your doing it.an whos orwelian?whoever that is they have no sense,ta say some animals have more rights than others.why should they have?animals are just as important as people.do really think that, that phone hackers dont have the same human value as other people?every human has value, even hackers, but that dont mean its ok ta hack!:)

lol.....george orwell, he's a writer and he wrote a book called animal farm.

    meh, don't worry about it.

and yes every human has value, but i believe your value is earnt on your actions, so yes some people have less, in my eyes.

Uh, the music forum, was and is one of few active subforums here. I think maybe just leaving one UK forum may be enough, then you folks can post your randomness in the random thoughts forum, music in the music forum, etc. I see no need for duplicate forums, esp. if the UK ones don't get the responses that the others do.

Perhaps with just one forum, anything involving the UK can go there and it might become more active.

BTW, some of the merged forums hadn't had a response in more than a month.

Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the incredible shrinking forum,
watch it disappear before your very eyes! :mickey:

I don't see it as such an issue how many subforums or not we have,
the main thing is for people to contribute and get some
    good vibes going again :sunny:

Uh, have you checked out some of the subforums in Philosophy and Religion, they've not had replies in god knows how long either. anyway i was just enquiring....seems i've missed the logic somewhere as randomness was always busy, busier than music i'm pretty sure and definitley busier than parties and protests. but i really don't mind the forum being just one big one about anything, it can just create a bit of ambiguity that's all, which may put people off posting here as they have no idea what they should be posting about.

anyway no bother to me, peace and love and hippy vibes. :2thumbsup:
