Yeah, there is no doubt that they had to die. However, there was less death that way than if they had fought violently, right? That was the whole point. India wasn't going to get freed without someone dying. However, they took the way where the least amount had to die.

And the people of india cared before death, it was just the rest of the world.

And the concept of fighting fire with fire is assenine (sp). it will just cause even more fire. You fight fire with its natural enemy, water (of liquid nitrogen, either one works... EXCEPT electrical fires. And grease fires. I would leave that to the liquid nitrogen...). You fight war with its natural enemy, peace. Peace is the mongoose to war's snake.

 

Humans are pretty chaotic, violent, and dense, these days. We've been programmed with the mentality that the only way to win a war is to kick the other sides ass.

I don't think that a movement for peace will really stop war. I don't think that people protesting, loudly, in front of a government building will change their politicians minds. But I'm in support of revolution, and I believe that our system (I'm in America, and that's where I, at least, will start) needs to be changed.

Sure, peace is great. Sure, there's too much war already. But people refuse to raise their eyes and see what's going on in the world. They need something to shock them, wake them up, and let them know that this world is fucked up. They need someone shouting rebellion from the rooftops, preaching it in the streets, and discussing it in their homes. And a protest can't do that. People will just walk by, ignore it, and move on with their lives, unchanged.

I don't have the answers. But I'm going to try to make an impact. And sometimes you have to be loud, and get others to hear you.

 

People just need to say more at one time with each other...

the best protest is with your pocketbook... buying products and services that honor the earth and other people so when you bug your parents for more spending money, be thoughtufl in how it is spent

 

You do realise that any such acts of rebellion will just automatically be labled as "terrorism", and you will have to spend the rest of your life in a prison?

No one is going to give shelter to an irrational idealist in their homes when such a curropt government is looking for him.

Point being: The only kind of revolution is a peaceful one, that is the beauty of the US... it could happen. Look at the Weather Underground, what did they ever achieve? Sure, some news headlines... that's about it.

Are you willing to kill innocents for the sake of your revolution?

the American system of government is one of the fairest in the world... sure, its not run by the most honest of people, but there are legal ways to bring about change. the problem is that most people just do not care, and with such an uncaring, desensitively sensitive population a violent revolution won't bring about anything but chaos and fear. you can't make any kind of wide-scale revolution without the aid of the major television networks.... and if you've got money, they don't care about your politics. but you have no money, and politicians are a main source of income for many tv networks.

no violence.....violence begets violence...then you get your head bashed in, and then you go to jail, and then you lose and they still win.....history my friends, will tell you that tactic doesnt work, at least for the long run.

But Im all about some guerilla methods...lke those guys in Boston. The guy who made the OBEY stuff went to college here.....art major, go figure. But before he graduated, he had a bunch of the OBEY stuff(stickers, spray paint, etc) all over town: under overpasses, on the side of a newspaper dispenser, on the side of a building.
It was a bunch of images of Andre the Giant, and under the picture it said: "Andre the Giant has a Posse " and then he started doing "Obey the Giant" and then - boom. OBEY. Its so wierd to see celebrities with Obey shirts on!! Ive been seeing that for years!

But my point to the whole story is.....it works. It gets people wondering what the hell is this? what does this mean? who is doing it, and why? Guerilla "advertising" is where I think it needs to go...for starters

That's pretty contentious. I'd argue differently.

 

For some reason, imo, I just feel it'd be difficult to argue anything unless you had a fixed comparison or testimonial.

If one thing is certain, it's certainly not the worst, but neither is it the best. I do not feel it will ever be either of the two.
