yeah, too bad I can't get to the one in Boise. I talked to someone from the birthing center there and she was very helpful, gave me the number of a few midwives to call to maybe come to the hospital here with me.
by birth plan, do you mean a written out one? or what exactly? I mean, my birth plan I guess is to go to the hospital, no inducing unless absolutely needed, baby stays in the room with me, no vaccinations until I can research what it is, exactly. Is there anything else I should consider?
You need a written-out birthing plan...should have had one like 6 weeks ago, actually...Did your OB not mention it?
A bladder catheter??? They still catheterize women in labor who aren't with epidurals? Or do you mean IV cath because those are usually firmly taped into place and shouldn't budge. Sounds to me like you had bitchy nurses who didn't want to have to help you with the tubing to facilitate a bathroom break. *hed esplodey*
Surely she meant IV catheter...why would she need to go use the bathroom if it was a bladder cath.? Ugh, I was induced after my water broke with dd1. I was getting along just fine-hello-my water broke obviously something is going right! It made my contractions horrible. And I still putted along. It took 10 hours to go from 2 to 4 centimeters hooked up to a damn IV not allowed to eat or walk around because they put a fucking internal monitor on me. The one that they SCREW INTO THE BABY'S HEAD. I was young and scared and just did everything they suggested-hind sight, ya know? They kept pushing the epi on me until I finally agreed to it. Wouldn't you know 10 minutes later she was born? I pushed for about 20 seconds and she just popped out! Anyways, you really need to get your birth plan in writing-there's another thread by hippyfreak that has her's in it-also instructions from MaggieSugar about what to do with it...will get the link... HF's birth plan
yeah that's scary. every birth takes it's own length of time. I live in a very small town with only like 10 total birthing rooms at the hospital I think. I would hate it if they had to rush me because they got full and needed more room! but what really can you do if that happens? I mean, babies are being born! I don't know...
You can refuse ANYTHING that they do....ANYTHING!!! All you have to do, if any needle or instrument comes near you or your baby, that you didn't authorise, is yell, "I DONT GIVE MEDICAL CONSENT!!!!" Have someone with you that will back you up....don't give in...If you know you and your baby are fine, you shouldn't have to give in to anything they want to push on you....And if they feel something is necessary, they had better well explain what it is and why they want it done, and what other alternatives you might have, AND what negative consequences might come from them performing said procedure on you... You can be informed of anything going on, even while it's going on... *hugs* Be strong! Have your birth...
haha, do you really think I'd have to yell it? I guess that WOULD come across a lot stronger than "Oh, no thanks". Thanks for the support HippyFreek and everybody! I just learned that my boyfriend may be coming home much sooner than expected, maybe in time for Abryn!!! so I'm keeping my fingers crossed. He's really the only person I have right now on my side in all this, besides all you internet people . I really appreciate it.
