That is just fucked up, and it is rediculous that people can get away with that. What the hell is a woman doing at a sperm bank if she wants a father to care for the child? The courts should spend their efforts going after real dead-beat dads. Women that want a man's help raising their children shouldn't go to a sperm bank, they should meet a man and plan a family. It isn't like any woman in their right mind goes to a sperm bank with the intention of making a dad out of the donor. They are either trying to skip that step, or borrow some goodies that their man wasn't able to produce. They shouldn't be able to go back on that if they get a little greedy or in a tight spot later.
RE: I was talking about the scenario of woman gets pregnant, man doesn't want child and she does-if they terminated his parental rights so the child could be adopted by a future step-father Er, no woman would give up the potential to get a guy on the hook for all the various expenses. And even if it was made law, it's one lawsuit away from being overturned, when some poor downtrodden woman complains about the guy who just knocked her up and left. RE: That is just fucked up, and it is rediculous that people can get away with that. What the hell is a woman doing at a sperm bank if she wants a father to care for the child? Well, she can get a court order to make the guy pay. She gets the kid and is able to stay at home. However, any woman that needs/wants such services is pretty much screwed. You forget what feminism is about "what's mine is mine and what's yours is mine." A woman is always allowed to "go back on that". In Canada, it's now law that a woman can retroactively rescind consent. Now, listen carefully. Any consent obtained by fraud, coercion or threat is null and void, so this has NOTHING to do with having been lied to, forced to, etc. So basically, you can make any man a rapist. Even if you sign a legal contract consenting to sex, you can technically rescind it afterward, WHICH MAKES THE MAN A RAPIST. How this is legal is beyond me, but it is. Even if I ever wanted to again, which I won't, I certainly would not engage in such activities in Canada in future. But keep in mind - It's like that for many things. Now in Canada a woman can get two years' (one? two? don''t remember) paid leave from her company for maternity. As in, you have little Jimmy and want to spend your time at home as a stay at home mommy, your company IS REQUIRED to give you two years paid at your current salary, all benefits and seniority, and your job must be ready for you when you go back to work. So technically you could work a year or two, have a kid, take two years off, work a few months, have another kid, take two years off, work a few months - and you've worked maybe two years and been paid for six. And in the meantime the company will have to find someone who'll do the job but be prepared to leave the moment mommy wants to come home. Net result? Suddenly they aren't hiring women for positions of importance anymore.
Well, I would def. give my child support if my daughter's bio. father would give up his rights to her. It would be better for all of us if he just let my dh adopt her. He has no relationship with her and she thinks Tim (dh) as her daddy.
