I'm glad you were able to make the decision yourself instead of being told what you must do. It's nice. That's all pro circ people want. And they shouldn't be treated as second class citizens or monsters because they choose to circumcise or *GASP* bottlefeed their babies. I'm not saying you did, but others on this thread have laid down some nasty comments...

Putting the choice to bottlefeed in third world context: 1.5 million babies die annually due to diarrhea and dehydration. This is due to lack of clean water to mix the formula. 1.5 million babies die every year because of formula.

I formula feed my daughter because it's a life-saving device. But not making every effort to feed your baby breastmilk, which every single medical agency will tell you is BY FAR the best, is LAZY and SELFISH. Yes, strong words. Harsh words. But bringing a child into this world and not striving to give it the best you can offer is just that: LAZY and SELFISH.

If you can't provide clean water for formula you have no choice. Period.

    This is not comparable..

Life saving device? Not in this country its not. Millions of normal, healthy people have been raised on breastmilk.

"not striving to give it the best you can offer is lazy?"

Oh jeez, where can we take that?

If you listen to rock n roll music instead of classical music in front of your kid, are you a bad parent?

If you spend money on a movie instead of a book for your child, are you a bad parent?

If you feed your kid a slice of pizza instead of an apple, are you a bad parent?

Do you not understand that such harsh, unwavering language is untenable and silly in the grand scheme of things? I point this out not to have a discussion on breastfeeding, which i agree should be used by every mother when possible, but to show how you can't hold such black and white views in the world we live in.

Yes, you can. Because formula-companies target third-world countries almost as much as they target THIS country. Despite warnings from the WHO and other agencies, they refuse to stop marketing formula in areas without a clean enough water supply to support formula feeding

    Millions of healthy people.

Diabetes, obesity, asthma, heart disease, IBS, RLS, ADHD, ADD, depression, etc. Sure. We're healthy.

Feeding your child the occasional slice of pizza isn't a problem. People have different preferences when it comes to music. I prefer Oingo Boingo to Bach. But the choices you make in the grand scheme of your child's COMPLETE diet shows your parenting style. When the only thing your child ingests is the decision, do you choose what's natural or what's artificially-derived? When that child gets older, do you give them nothing but junk-food and fast-food, or do you throw in the occasional salad and piece of fruit?

I hold black and white views on issues that have black and white medical proof as to what falls where. And maybe it's time for some harsh words for some people?

Surely breastfed people are in these groups too.

But yes, Millions of healthy people.

Classical music is shown to stimulate brain waves more than other music. If you're giving your kid the best, i think you should be listening to only classical music around him. I dont know what oingo boingo is, sorry.

There is no black and white conclusion on circumcision within the medical community. I hope you'll revise your use of black and white views in light of this.

Seeing as this thread was started as a reason to cause dissent and argument, as the OP has an other thread on the MIF with the exact same arguments and that the Off Topic posts are taking the thread out of it's way, AND everything to be said already has been, the thread is closed.
