So far a few small handfuls of unsalted almonds, walnuts and cashews....

Made a bg pot of brown rice today, so mixed some of it into a can of vegetable soup.....so it like a rice dish with gravy.....

 

Steak, medium rare with mushrooms and onions and a cucumber, tomato, green onion salad with white balsamic dressing.

They shouldn't feel mushy... firm but should give slightly when pinched.
Underripe ones will ripen on the counter

To check for ripeness of an avocado, pull the stem out. The area it was seated in shouldn't be green but if it is, like gongshaman said, it will ripen for you. Better to have a green one than a rotten, bruised one.

 

lol After brainwashing Gongshaman to absolutely love high voices, we'll put BBAD in the chair and get working on avocados. He'll be spreading the love in every thread in no time!

Speaking of avocados, I made another favourite today. Raw carrot and avocado soup (with ginger and lime). It's a cold soup made with carrot juice and it's oh so good!

I have chicken and potato, carrots, celery and onion simmering. Going to make chicken and dumplings for supper.

My daughter came home with a cold and it is her request. Comfort food is a good thing.

My ex's favorite comfort food was McDonalds

So far I've had bristling sardines on crackers with hot Chinese mustard and
Nong Shim hot bowl noodles.
