Tonight, we went out to a local place under new ownership. I had the "combination" platter with a ribeye steak and battered shrimp. Not impressed at all and I kind of feel bad because I was pulling for them. I write a restaurant review blog and I had hoped the new owners turned the place around. They haven't. But....last night we had pork chops, pasta with feta cheese and brussel sprouts. That was my idea for dinner. Damn....I love living with foodies! I am so spoiled. :)

    Shit on a stick!

Nothing really, I've been feeling sick and weak for the past few days so my man took the relay at home to help me out. He's a pretty decent cook to be honest, I'm pleased with what he made for supper tonight: chicken and vegetable soup, with fancy grilled cheese sandwiches (nut and raisin bread, aged cheddar). These were SO good, I definetely have to make some again!

Definitely a step up from your meal! :p

This was actually yesterday's breakfast. I hadn't had bacon in a while. It tasted great!

I wish I could eat mangos. I love 'em but It's one of the rare foods I'm severely allergic too.

didn't think to take a picture. some peperoni and some brats in the fridge needed used up and cooked well before eating. so i started boiling some water, with just the lime concentrate, guessing the meat would have more then enough sodium and fat content for flavor, which proved correct. to this i added some refrigerated udon, knowing these won't last as long as frozen or dry pasta will. this got to going good, i added some frozen cut up bell peppers, which well of course cook quickly, being why i left them for last, and made sure the meat had cooked thoroughly before adding other ingredients. when about half done the brats were removed, chopped and added back in. that was it. ate partially with hachi, as these being best way for long pasta. and also then drinking of broth. came out quite well and am still full. this is the best kind of breakfast.

I started my holiday baking, part 1 done yay! :D Tonight I prepared some sugar cookie dough, that I'll cook and decorate tomorrow, and my famous creamy caramel sauce. This sauce is so rich and decadent, it's perfect to top some cake, pie or ice cream...

I didn't do too bad this year, but I ate far too many shortbread cookies (which go fantastic with chai tea!) over the holidays.

Back to good eating. I made another small batch of kimchi and sauerkraut. I only fermented it for about 5 days this time and it turned out a lot better, nice and crunchy. Yum!

Chicago style hot dog. I've never actually been to Chicago but I figured as long as I used the typical ingredients it would be authentic enough.

also, I've realized I've been eating hot dogs wrong my entire life.

lunch was sushi rolls and i made the mistake of licking my finger after forgetting that there was a big blob of wasabi paste on it from me spreading it lightly on the pieces

late supper was chunks of chicken breast wrapped with bacon...kind of plain i should have spiced them or used maple bacon instead
