Gooood morning, brats from the microwave oven, OMG. I can proudly tell you, that I never lived in a household with a microwave oven. For me it works the last four decades that way and I hope that will not change the next four decades . Regards Gyro
After work yesterday I had a chicken Caesar salad with a whole avocado and about half a jar of walnut butter. Last night after my workout I made myself a fat bomb protein shake with heavy cream, coconut milk, chia seeds, and about three tablespoons of MCT oil. I later ate an entire bag of buffalo wing cheese curds, some hard salami, and a few squares of dark chocolate.
Sounds like good eating (except I have no experience with protein shakes or walnut butter). Do you deep fry those cheese curds?
another omelette - 4 eggs with red onion, red and yellow bell pepper, and hot banana pepper. for lunch I'll have a smoothie with strawberries, blueberries, bananas, beets, greek yogurt, hemp hearts, almonds, chia seeds, and some mango if there is room for it.
I'm eating again! I made a monster omelette this morning, with everything in it (eggsprog was making me salivate!). Red onion, mushroom, tomato, ham, Swiss cheese and a couple spoonfuls of spicy salsa to go with it, with a slice of caraway rye with butter and raw honey. And a cup of Irish Breakfast tea.Yum!
omelettes again for us, haha, with red onion, bell peppers, tomato, cheddar and parmesan cheeses. also had a salad with mixed greens, goat cheese, dried cranberries, and walnuts; and carrots and parsnips cooked with thyme, cinnamon, and honey.
Eggs again here too eggsprog (feels like an egg challenge... an egg-off!). I made a quiche for the first time. I layered the pie shell with chopped (cooked) bacon, red onion, mushrooms, Swiss cheese, then poured the eggs with cream and a dash of cinnamon over it and sprinkled with romano. Then baked for about 35 minutes. It was really good!
I made pasta and meat sauce for lunch, and fried chicken from scratch with coleslaw, gravy and fries for supper.
Cason's at my moms for a sleepover... so just me and the baby here... I'm about to make myself a seafood feast.... about 50 little neck clams, a pound a half snow crab legs and two crab cakes. Been looking forward to my meal all day.
Sounds delicious! It's not really cooking but I started a batch of dill pickles and one of kimchi for fermenting... In 2 weeks I'll be able to appreciate the fruit of my labor!
since I can't make an omelet to save my life I threw all the ingredients I would use for an omelet and made a breakfast casserole instead - 5 eggs, onion, green pepper, oregano, basil, salt and pepper.
That sounds awesome, breakfast casseroles are great! Tonight for dinner I will be cooking: atlantic salmon brushed with olive oil, with a little salt and pepper; goat cheese risotto; a simple salad with mixed greens, goat cheese, and maybe some dried cranberries and walnuts. I might go get a bottle of wine to go with it, but I prefer red and it tends to not go as well with fish.
Sounds delicious EggSprog. Grilled grassfed ribeye with grilled mushrooms and sweet onions for me. Chased with a Cab Sav of course.
Yes, it's true. You lose weight very quickly on a non-carb intake. Too often I hear it described as a meat diet. You can just as easily make it a salad diet by avoiding the same problems, carbohydrates. If you can avoid sugar, rice, potatoes, bread and pasta you will drop fat off quickly. You may even decide to slow it down so you don't get too flappy. Skin takes a while to adjust. I have been off of BP meds for 5 years since I started cutting carbs. But it's not for everybody. It can be a miserable sensation. Sometimes all I want is a cracker, but instead I have to eat a steak or some fried eggplant. Or yet another salad. In the US we have had sugar forced into our diet. It's everywhere. Most pizza has sugar in the crust. Most meat served in restaurants has had sugar added. and so many canned goods, once the target of salt warriors, have always had added sugar. It can be hard to avoid. But it's so worth it when you realize you are healing. One problem I have discovered is that if you go full Neanderthal like I did and meat it up most of the time, you can suffer odd muscle craps and gout. Like any diet, balance is the key. Overdoing any 1 thing will goof you up. Which is exactly why all the forced sugar is so disturbing. I cooked a ribeye for brunch today. Medium with some wasabi on the side and a can of V8. Tonight it's chicken with a salad.
Casserole eggs are basically crustless quiches! A little late now but... Pinot noir is a red that goes well with red fish. Or my fav with salmon, Beaujolais (also sold as Gamay noir).
You made your own KFC! Did you make the chicken the southern way? I've been wanting to try it ever since I saw The Help. Think I'll pass on the chocolate pie though. ;-)
I'm not sure if I made it the southern way but it was a very classic fried chicken: dipped in buttermilk then rolled in a mix of flour, salt, pepper and paprika, then up in the deep frier until golden and crispy.
