What defines a "pedophile" to you?

Anyone over 16 who seeks to seduce or oogle someone under 16 is a paedophile in British terms. To me, thats the law, and thats the reality.

The fact is that children can be manipulated gigantically by someone even slightly older than them. Children shouldn't be subjected to people who are dsyfunctional, control freaks and harbouring all manners of psychological defects.

Pedophiles have an attraction to children. They do not view them as children, instead they view they as sexual.

 

This weekend I was watching an episode of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit which featured a pedophile who had the financial resources to pay-off the parents of the abused children.

A man or woman who fantasizes or has sex with underage children. IMO, you shouldn't be having sex until you're old enough to take care of a baby, should you conceive.

Saying you only fantasize, but never engage is still just as disgusting. I love how a man can come on here and post about wanting to suck a dick, and automatically everyone labels him gay. But no, wanting to have Sex with a minor isn't pedophilia until you're actually physically having sex.

The issue I have with someone saying that they have an interest in children that is sexual in any way is that all experts that I have read, state that pedophilia is not treatable. It does not go away, it is not a phase.

Children have little or no protection from those who would seek to harm them. As a society we are suppose to protect those who need to be protected. We have laws that punish but the critical issue is that those who are pedophiles are not curable. They repeat the offense if given the chance. They groom and seek out children and justify their behaviours. Saddens me and is one of the issues I have no personal tolerance for.

Odd there are drugs which enhance sexual arousal but there are no drugs which suppress the urge?

There are drugs apparently. But the side effects are things like stopping testosterone production so there are health issues.

I know many people would have a fuck the pedo attitude and not care about their health. But I support ethical treatment.

 

In some cases they use chemical castration which means that they can obviously not use their own penis in the future, given that they stay on the medications. Even pedophiles have rights and it is not a deterrent, anymore than the sex registry is.

There have been pedophiles who choose to use other means to rape and torture their victims.

 

I saw a documentary the other day that had a long term facility that housed pedophiles after they served their sentence. They were there for life, unless they could pass a test in which they would have to wear a device around their penis that would detect if a man got an erection when shown photos of children in everyday situations. There were men that passed avd were released, but they openly admitted they were still attracted to children. They just had learned how to suppress the physical urge. Very sad.

Anakin is correct about the chemical castration. Physical castration seems to be the only way. In the documentary I mentioned above, there were men who chose that route.

 

Haha I'm watching that show right now. I know they're supposed to be soul mates and all but its always been a creepy part of the plot to me.

And yeah, when I was 16 anyone older than 20 seemed old as dirt.

Just kill them. I dont really believe in capital punishment in most circumstances but pedophiles are a waste of space. If capital punishment has to exist at all I dont understand why it doesn't include pedophiles

i don't know, does hipforums count as real life? i've seen plenty of posts about young girls dating old men.

in real real life, i can only think of one real example. a girl my age at work is married to some old guy and has 2 stepdaughters that are approximately the same age as she is.

 

I knew a girl in middle school who dated an 18 year old when she was 13 and they're still together.

Which isn't really the same as someone in their late 20s dating a 16 year old. Its weird and was also illegal the first 4 years of their relationship, but 18 year olds are still kids, essentially. Whereas someone in their 20s should definitely know better

pedophile is a pejorative on the same level as witch burning.

trauma is real. it is not my point nor wish to avoid that.

nor is sexual aggressiveness ever innocent. nor any other kind for that matter.

when the victim of aggressiveness that is sexual is pre-pubescent, the criminalization of any such act is called pedophilia.

there's nothing wrong with calling that a real crime.

but ped? as in foot. and phillia? as in affection?
the term does not compute.

nor for it to be any more nor less of a social pariah, then any other abusive inconsiderateness driven by aggressiveness and ego.
