I'm attracted to nerds. I love nerdy men. I'm not even sure how to define nerds. But they are genuine and seem to be outcasted by most social groups because of it.

I don't think I'm very nerdy, but of course I've been called a nerd like most people are for saying "big words" or making clever jokes.

I'm the same way... well not really actually, I really like nerds and pretty much always hang out with nerds, but I usually end up with the scummy guys :\ ...it's a curse, I never think I'm good enough for the nice or nerdy guys I like.

I'm kind of a nerd, I grew up reading my brothers comic books and playing video games, chess and scrabble.

I don't really know how to classify nerd though.
I think there are many different kind of nerds, so there are many different classifications depending on which type.
but who cares about labels and stuff, I'm a nerd and I also go out drinking, biking, jamming, screwing... can't stereotype things all the time

I wish I could blame my parents for inheriting their nerdiness...

I think a lot of people who have thought that I was nerdy was because I am close with my family, and always have been.

I always got nerds as the people who were above average, intellectually, unattractive to most, arkward yeah, like comics, linux, computer games, D&D, Warhammer etc..

But I guess "nerdiness" is coming back...

I have read every issue of green lantern
    ever
I keep up with comic book events (final crisis, batman R.I.P. "in darkes night")
I read every issue of azrael, and I want the thing on booster gold's chalkboard to be true ("jean paul valley, not dead?!")
I care who they cast in the witchblade movie. even though I don't read the comic.
I have watched every episode of farscape bare minimum, four times (I watched the whole series in one sitting four times, so any bonus are due to syndication)
built my computer, if that counts anymore
I can guess any number in 20 yes or no questions.
    I enjoy doing so
    I play magic the gathering

I could go on all night, but, I am almost certainly the biggest nerd here.

my understanding of the definitive difference between nerd, geek and dork IS

nerds are smart, and are usually interested in and good at intelligent things such as physic's, chess, maths, computer coding etc etc when they take serious pleasure from these activities and spend most of the day involved in them we classify them nerds

geeks do not have to be smart to be geeks. geeks are usually passionately interested in one particular thing, such as, dungeons and dragons, WOW or a tv show. you can have stupid geeks, who are completely hopeless.

a dork can be smart or dumb as their classification is based on their social retardation and bad clothes. mostly it's bad clothing, hair cut etc that makes a dork a dork and coupled with social awkwardness makes for super dork. but dorks can be cute and loveable as well.

i tend to think that it isnt that nerds are unattractive because they are nerds but because they started off unattractive and when they werent accepted socially by the judgemental "cool" kids (read dickheads) they spent their social time studying and doing other nerdy things... which leads them to become good at subjects and stuff

its not so much a matter of how smart you are but of valuing intelectual persuits and intelligence more then social interaction or physical prowess. beyond that i'd say it's all about the mostly good things in life, what i would consider the really good things in life.

its not about excaping into your intellect because of otherwise social ineptness, that's the negative steriotype that's been created to discredit the really moral responsibility to honestly and objectively question popular assumptions.

really nerdishness is next to godliness because individually we reap what togather we so, however unfair that might sometimes to each of us as individuals might be.

that's why its thoughtlessness that creates the market for this tyranny of danger and brutality, the guilty and innocent alike are suffering these days.

the good side is that more people then ever before are realizing this. so its far from hopeless. not that everyone that can be classified as nerdley is neccessarily saintly altruisticly inclined, but altruistic intrest is also self intrest because we do, all of us, have to live in this world, that all of what we actually do with or without thinking about it, togather creates the incentive for the decisions that create the conditions we experience.

so in reality, nerdishness, or at least most nerdishness, is kind of heroic. especially when it is trivialized and demonized because of its inconvenience to those who exploit our thoughtlessness and gullability.

and the bottom line reality is that most really smart people arn't socially inept at all, they just don't really have much time for, or a lot of patience with persuing it, because of having much more interesting and gratifying things on their minds.

Again, "nerds, geeks, or what-have-you" were terms and labels made up by dumb people/simpletons so that they can feel better about themselves...

And as an aside, growing up I wore glasses and read and was TORMENTED daily for wearing glasses and also made fun of because I liked to read (which was bizarre on it's own), and now kids and teens are wearing fake glasses...

An electropositive ion and an electronegative ion are walking down the street. The electropositive ion bumps into the electronegative ion, to which the latter responds,
    "Hey you bumped into me!"
    "Are you sure?"
    "Yeah, I'm positive!"

    Baroom-CHICK!

...You're all free never to speak to me again, but I couldn't resist.
