Is this related to the TV series where the characters believe they have died and are in the Happy Place, but are actually in Hell, and their punishment is to make them think they are in a happy place because of a mistake, and they are trying to prevent anyone from finding out that they should not be there (in a nutshell)
I am just finishing "iron in the soul" the third part of the trilogy "roads to freedom" by Jean Paul Sartre. I have just had one of the most embarrassing moments of my life recently in a hotel just south of Dubrovnic. Their book swap was amazing and had literature in about 10 different languages. I was rummaging through some French stuff when my husband got quite animated because he found an old copy of Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury. I just realised that, even though there was always a copy in our library in the 80's/90's, I had never actually read it. I am rather ashamed. Next on my list since we now have it in our possession
Atomic Habits by James Clear is a game-changer for anyone looking to make real, sustainable changes in their life. This book dives into the science of habits, breaking down the process of building good habits and eliminating bad ones with a refreshingly practical approach. Clear doesn’t just tell you what to do; he explains why these strategies work, citing research in psychology, biology, and neuroscience, which makes his advice feel credible and applicable.
I recently got Dostoyevsky's Crime and Punishment. Read a little of the first chapter, but haven't actually tackled it yet----I also have Anna Karenina in my personal library, but haven't started it.
Am currently reading, Benazir Bhutto's book, Reconciliation, Islam, Democracy and the West. She finished this book right before she was assassinated. She hoped that it would be her legacy as a bridge between Islam and the West, and that it would serve to bring democracy to Muslim countries.
I have pulled War and Peace out of my library shelf with a view to reading it next. I have actually started it a couple of times but something more interesting always came up. This time.............
A little light reading after Anna Karenina and then I am going to start this. On closer inspection I see that it is 3 volumes and within each volume there are books so should be able to be read in chunks.
I am currently reading the 4th series " For eternity " Filthy Rich Vampires by Geneva Lee. https://d32vymxhv9fq6b.cloudfront.net/images/books/large/97803/9780349130958.jpg
