i am reading -les identités meurtriéres- by amin maalouf at these days.he tells about his understanding of identity in this book.i am still reading it but i loved the way how he tells his thoughts;its clear, fluent, and bright.i proposed it to a strongly-nationalist teacher of mine while she was talking vindictively about the other nationalities, like she always does. [IMG] she was suffering from emotional constipation,i hope shell read this book and feel better and relaxed than. [IMG]

I'm reading True At First Light by Ernest Hemingway. It was edited by his son, and like true Hemingway prose and fashion it blurs the lines between memoir and story-sweeping fiction.

It's perfect so far. It has just the right amount of rhinoceros stampeding narrow escapes, Kamba-filled cultural quirks and romantic sub-plot woes.

(Don't you love how Hemingway always makes romance in a novel out to be a minor subplot?)

Anyway, this book was published in 1999, well after his death. I am about half way through, and I love the book. I've always wanted to go to Kenya someday. I'd recommend this book to anyone who wants to learn a bit more about Africa and who wants to get a good sense of the beautiful scenery.
